There are two ways to obtain the Vassir-Didanat Mine Key. Pick the simple lock and enter Rethan Manor southwest of Balmora. Sneak upstairs and grab the key from Benar Rethan’s Desk. To receive the Foreman’s key, pickpocket Foreman Nox, who stands near the well, just north of the Balmora stables. Use the key to enter Vassir-Didanat Mine. Iron Hound mobs patrol outside and inside the mine.
While exploring the mine, beware of the purple gas clouds that poison the player with Accelerated Transposition. Watch for Stonefiends that occupy the later portions of the mine. Fight your way to the south side of the mine and examine the Unfinished Letter (Lorebook) that sits on a table.
On the west side of the mine, enter the Daedric Laboratory and examine the Test Results (Lorebook) on the table. Continue east to find Gavros, swipe the Daedric Formula off the nearby table, and use the nearby Lift Room to reach the mine entrance. Exit the Iron Hound camp and check in with Malur Rethan.
Return to Rethan Manor to find a Hired Assassin outside the house. Defeat the adversary and collect the Assassin’s Orders (Lorebook) next to the fire, before talking to Councilman Rayveth inside the Randy Netch Inn.
Break into Rethan’s House on the east side of Balmora, sneak down to the lower floor, and kill Malur Rethan. Take the Mysterious Formula that sits on the console table and return to Councilman Rayveth. Decide whether to hand over or destroy the scroll to complete the quest.
