Alliance Points and Rankings

Participating in the Alliance War by defeating enemies, capturing/defending keeps and resources, confiscating Elder Scrolls, and completing quests earns Alliance Points (AP). This currency can be used at Merchants within Cyrodiil on exclusive items, such as elite gear and siege equipment. Player-versus-player (PvP) combat is not necessary to earn AP; defeat mobs that roam the zone and complete quests, though you should always watch your back for the opposition.

Alliance Points also go toward your Alliance War skill line, Alliance War Rank, and leaderboard position for the current campaign. The first AP earned in the Alliance War or Battlegrounds unlocks the Assault and Support skill lines.

From the starting rank of Citizen, there are 50 ranks to achieve as you make your way to Grand Overlord Grade 2—25 titles, each with two grades. The highest rank requires over 60 million Alliance Points, so a lot of time is required on the battlefield to max it out. This can be well worth the time, as each rank earns the player a Skill Point, and some higher-level gear is restricted by rank.
