Character progression doesn’t stop at Level 50. Max-level characters become Champions capable of earning powerful new Passive Abilities. High-ranking Champions can make use of better equipment and consumables, and all Champions have access to more difficult game content.
Unlocking the Champion System
When your first character reaches Level 50, the Champion System is unlocked across your entire account. Once this happens, all of your characters—even those you might create down the line—have access to the Champion System. Use the Champion System menu to review available Passives and manage your character’s Champion Points.
Champion Points
When your character reaches Level 50, they receive a Champion Bar. The Champion Bar works much like the Experience Bar it replaces: it fills as your character performs actions like killing monsters and completing quests. Each time the Champion Bar reaches capacity, your character receives a Champion Point (CP). The Champion Bar then resets, and the process starts over.
Champion Points come in three color-coded varieties. Each time you receive a Champion Point, you begin working toward the next color in the sequence:
Green Champion Points can only be spent within the Thief Constellation Group.
Blue Champion Points can only be spent within the Mage Constellation Group.
Red Champion Points can only be spent within the Warrior Constellation Group.
Use earned Champion Points to unlock and upgrade the Passive Abilities found within the Champion System menu.
Each time a Champion Bar reaches capacity, all the characters on your account receive the indicated Champion Point. This doesn’t mean Champion Points are shared between characters—each character has its own pool of points to spend.
Only Level 50 characters can earn Champion Points, but all of your characters can use them to unlock Passive Abilities in the Champion System menu.
Champion Point Cap
While there’s no limit to the number of Champion Points you can earn, there are limits on how many points are available for use within the Champion System menu. Currently, you can spend a maximum of 630 Champion Points:
- 210 green Champion Points (for use in the Thief Constellation Group)
- 210 blue Champion Points (for use in the Mage Constellation Group)
- 210 red Champion Points (for use in the Warrior Constellation Group)
Once you reach the Champion Point Cap, any additional points you earn are reflected in the Champion System’s point tallies. If the Cap is raised in a future game update, your extra points will be made available for use.
Champion Rank
Champion Rank serves the same purpose as your character’s level. It indicates general progression and determines the equipment and consumables your character can use.
A character’s Champion Rank is a reflection of the total number of Champion Points that can be (or have been) spent in the Champion System menu. When your first character reaches Level 50, it’s automatically granted Champion Rank 10. Each additional Champion Point raises your character’s rank by one level.
Due to the Champion Point Cap, Champion 630 is currently the highest rank a character can achieve.
Enlightenment
Unlocking the Champion System also unlocks Enlightenment. While active, Enlightenment boosts Experience gains earned by Champion characters.
Enlightenment accumulates when you’re offline. Your account can store up to 12 days of Enlightenment (1,200,000 points) at one time.
Available Enlightenment is indicated by a translucent glow within your character’s Champion Bar. As your Champion earns Experience, your supply of Enlightenment is depleted.
Champion System Menu
The Champion System menu allows you to convert your hard-earned Champion Points into powerful Passive Abilities. The menu’s main screen features available Champion Points surrounded by three color-coded Constellation Groups:
The Thief: Green Constellations feature effects that improve utility. Investing in any green Constellation also boosts Maximum Stamina.
The Mage: Blue Constellations feature effects that improve damage output. Investing in any blue Constellation also boosts Maximum Magicka.
The Warrior: Red Constellations feature effects that improve defense. Investing in any red Constellation also boosts Maximum Health.
Each Constellation Group consists of three Minor Constellations. Highlight a Minor Constellation of your choice, and then zoom in to review the Passives it offers.
Once inside a Minor Constellation, you’ll find eight stars. Four of these stars feature variable Passives—each time you invest a Champion Point in one of these stars, its effect becomes more potent.
The remaining stars represent bonus effects that become active as the Minor Constellation increases in rank:
- At Rank 10, the first bonus effect is activated.
- At Rank 30, the second bonus effect is activated.
- At Rank 75, the third bonus effect is activated.
- At Rank 120, all four bonus effects are active.
Each Champion Point you spend within a Minor Constellation increases its rank by one level, which means activating all of a Constellation’s bonus effects requires an investment of at least 120 Champion Points.
