Finding Your Way to Easteros
You can accept this mission as soon as you arrive at Hatred’s Shadow, so use the Fast Travel station to return to Flamerock Refuge, and then talk to Roland. Then, file the mission away as you make your way through the area; it won’t come into play until you get to the very final part of the area. After clearing the Hall of Hyperion and stepping out into the hall with the vending machines, an otherwise locked room at the east end of the hall opens its doors to you. The entire quest plays out here.
Begin by gunning down Jeffrey’s guards, a quartet of bandit-like soldiers who pose little real threat. Next, battle Canine and Molehill, Jeffrey’s personal bodyguards. These guys are massive bullet sponges, so use a combination of slag and elemental damage effects to sap their lengthy life bars.
Fans of the books on which this quest is not-so-subtly based know that Canine is supposed to be weak to fire, but corrosive weapons seem much more effective here.
One Word, and I Hit You Again
Your next opponent is the mighty Prince Jeffrey himself, who folds like an origami penguin after only one hit from just about anything. Once he’s on his knees where he belongs, it’s time to start slapping. Roland seems satisfied after one good crack, but clearly he doesn’t watch the show. Keep slapping, and slapping, and slapping, and you’ll fulfill a pair of hidden optional objectives.
Remember: If you don’t turn in the quest, Roland can’t stop you from slapping Jeffrey whenever you want.
If you’re more of the PBS type, Tiny Tina’s got you covered with a new NPC she’ll spawn into town when you return to Roland.
