Three Horns Divide
Lilith needs you to take down a bandit named Boll who resides in Three Horns Divide, not far from Snowbound Crossroads. Take a Light Runner south, but stay clear of the entrance to the Thirty Below cave. Continue toward the elevated ship—what a great landmark it makes!—and park the vehicle near the narrow entrance with the warning signs, positioned to the left of the bridge to Frostburn Canyon.
Boll and his two pet Alpha Snow Skags live just beyond these signs.
Equip a Fire-based weapon if you have one and open fire on Boll as soon as he exits his tent. Rush toward him and continue firing. Two of his pet Snow Skags charge toward your position in an attempt to bite and claw at you while the third spits from afar. Stay on the move, and consider leaping up onto the cloth canopy and then over to the skags’ house to keep out of reach of the Alpha Snow Skags. If you’re not worried about harming the Alpha Snow Skags, don’t hesitate to use Axton’s Sabre Turret or Salvador’s Gunzerking ability coupled with some grenades to quickly eliminate at least one or two of the skags, along with Boll. It’s also worth triggering the Stinging Cactus to help bring Boll’s energy shield down. Equipping a Spike Shield also works well to fend off melee-centric enemies like these Alpha Snow Skags.
You needn’t worry about the fire spreading to the skags, so light ‘em up!
Pick up the ECHO Recorder that Boll drops to learn that three of Lilith’s personal conversations with Roland have been recorded as proof of her survival. They’ve been secreted away throughout Three Horns Divide in some rather clever hiding spots that this guide is now going to help you find.
The first ECHO Recorder is near the elevated ship. Drive the short distance to the bandit camp at the base of the raised ship, and take a moment to gun down any enemies that might pose a threat. Back away from the camp and look up toward the anchor dangling overhead. Shoot the green-glowing clamp to drop the anchor—the ECHO Recorder is attached to it.
Don’t forget to look up!
Man’s Best Friends
This challenge requires that you kill Boll without even harming his two Alpha Snow Skags (at least not until Boll has been defeated and you get credit for completing the challenge). This is more difficult for some classes than others. For example, you definitely can’t use Axton’s Sabre Turret at all, as there’s no way to keep it from targeting the Alpha Snow Skags. Similarly, you want to be careful about using Maya’s Phaselock if you have the Helios skill active (or similar). Though it can be done through traditional means if you charge Boll with a high DPS Fire weapon at close range, there is another option. Climb the ladder onto the elevated ship to the east, and snipe into Boll’s camp from atop the raised ship. Just bring plenty of ammo and some good optics!
To cut down on excess travel time—have you seen the price of fuel on Pandora lately?—it’s worth getting the third ECHO Recorder next. It’s located all the way to the south, on a cliff overlooking Claptrap’s boat. Drive through the Thirty Below cave, back toward the bridge you jumped over with your very first vehicle. Don’t go back across the bridge-gap! Instead, continue south toward the pipeline in the distance. Climb up the pile of containers and snow in the back left-hand corner, and leap for the ladder leading up onto the pipes. That brings you directly to the next ECHO Recorder.
There’s only one way onto the pipes: locate the ladder to the south.
The final ECHO Recorder isn’t far from the gates of Sanctuary. Head north through Thirty Below to the steam pumps in the swamp-like pit just south of the city. Locate the small crater-like structure with the pipe curving toward it, to the east of the pumping rig. Turn the valve wheel to release the steam pressure, thereby sending the final ECHO Recorder flying out of the crater. Pick it up, and return to Lilith to complete the mission.
Turn this valve to blow the ECHO Recorder from its hiding spot inside the crater.
