Mission Briefing

Only Flyboy stands between you and Piston. Unfortunately, Flyboy’s lair is—to use his words—”friggin’ impenetrable.” The best you can hope for is to activate the three access points around the Torgue Forge, which releases some of Flyboy’s personal buzzards. Then, you can kill the buzzards and—if all goes well—Flyboy will be angry enough to allow you into his lair, where he can kill you personally.

Opening the Cage

Use the vending machines to stock up on ammo and ensure that you have at least one reliable corrosive weapon, if you didn’t already. Though you can get by with a combination of slag and explosive weapons, it really pays to have a corrosive weapon during your stay in the Forge.

Soak the Torgue Thrasher in acid, then move to dodge its arcing projectile.

Head up the path to where it widens up ahead, near the gate. Take cover near the yellow bus on the left, and open fire on the Torgue Loaders in this area. Beware that the Torgue Thrashers can fire arcing rockets at your position—they’re easy to evade, but they’re deadly if one hits you. Leap onto the crates to avoid being run over by a Torgue Charger as you finish off the remaining Torgue Loaders.

Kill a few Torgue Engineers, then sprint for the turret beneath the access point.

The first access point is at the top of the housing complex to the south. Round the corner to the right, and begin the ascent past the gun turret at the base of the stairs. This area is home to a number of Torgue Engineers who try to damage you by rattling the ground beneath your feet. Continue to use your corrosive and slag-based weaponry against them as you weave your way up the complex to one of the gun turrets on the middle levels.

Access point 1 is at the top of the stairs on the left-hand side.

The first access point is on the uppermost platform on the left-hand side of the complex. Throw the lever to power on the gate controls in the area where you fought the Torgue Loaders moments ago.

Descend the stairs, and cross the yard to the large gate to the east. Access point 2 is straight ahead. Pull the lever to the right of the gate to gain access to the Junkyard area. Kill off the Torgue Loaders that attack (use the shack on the left for cover from the Torgue Burners and Thrashers while you reload or wait for life to regenerate), then note the arrow on the wall to the north. This series of arrows marks the way to the Junkyard. No junkyard would be complete without a pack of mangy skags lurking about. Switch to a fire or explosive weapon, and shoot your way past the pack of Spitter Skags. Keep following the large arrow signs, as they lead directly to the Arena.

The path soon opens up to the main Junkyard area, complete with electromagnetic car-grabbers and all manner of scrap metal. Don’t be lured into the depths in the center of the Junkyard. Instead, stick to the northern edge, and fight your way past the Torgue Loaders and across the bridge above the river of molten metal. The access point is inside the shack under the yellow bus.

Now that you’ve reached all three access points, you can continue to the Battle Board outside the Forge Arena. Continue your clockwise lap around the perimeter of the Forge area as the trail leads you past several Barf Skags and through a large gate made of various pieces of scrap metal. The Battle Board is up the hill beyond this gate, near the vending machines.
