This section breaks down how each monster is covered in the Bestiary.
TVHM Name: Most enemies have different names after you’ve completed the first playthrough (Normal Mode) and started again in True Vault Hunter Mode.
Health Multiplier: Indicates the enemy’s health, relative to other targets of the same level. The higher the number, the sturdier the target; a “6” here means the monster will be “6” times sturdier than average!
Shield Level: If a monster can have a shield in the first place (many cannot), its possible shield level will be displayed here. As with health, this is a relative value; a higher number indicates the monster has a higher-capacity shield.
Damage Multiplier: As with health and shields, this is a relative value that shows the monster’s damage offset from normal. A “1” here indicates average damage. A “9” would indicate a very powerful enemy.
XP Value: For purposes of XP, there are eight grades: chump, normal, normal+, tough, tough+, Badass, Super Badass, and Ultimate Badass. The game scales around you, depending on where you are in the story and where you’ve been, so there aren’t absolute values for anything; only values relative one another. In other words, an enemy that gives a chump level of XP is always going to give you boring XP, and an enemy rated at an XP level of Ultimate Badass will always give astounding XP. (And probably a fantastic fight!)
Critical Areas: Shooting certain spots on each creature causes Critical Hit damage, which is much more than regular damage. In addition to greatly increased damage, Criticals may also cause abnormal reactions from the victim, such as flinching that interrupts action, or a crippling injury.
Weakness/Resistance: As mentioned earlier, flesh is weak to Fire, and so on. Notable strengths and weaknesses are listed here.
Location: Where the subject may be found.
