Borderlands 2 Game of the Year Guide Optional Missions

Cult Following: Eternal Flame

Mission Briefing

Lilith has asked you to infiltrate a clan of cultists who worship her as a goddess. As far as Lilith’s concerned, this could be awesome, creepy, or both—she’s asked you to investigate the clan from the inside to see if they’re up to anything weird. You’ll have to speak to the cult leader, Incinerator Clayton, to become a cultist.

Availability: Talk to Lilith in Sanctuary Air after “Hunting the Firehawk.”

Unlocks: “Cult Following: False Idols”

Mission Reward: Incinerator Clayton

Frostburn Canyon

Use the Fast Travel station to return to Frostburn Canyon and head up the path to the right to Incinerator Camp. Speak with Incinerator Clayton, the head of the Cult of the Firehawk. This guy doesn’t just let anybody walk in and become a member without proving it first. He wants you to start proving yourself by bringing him the ashes of five bandits. You can decide which ones.

Fire Barrels are perfect for exacerbating the damage of your fire guns and grenades.

The closest bandit camp is nearby Blisterpus Camp. Equip a Fire weapon and head down the slope toward the enemies. Look for Fire Barrels, and fire a few rounds into them to make even quicker work of this task. Nomad Pyros are Fire-resistant, so you’ll have to kill them through other means. Deploy Axton’s Sabre Turret only if you’re in danger of getting knocked out and need a Second Wind. Conversely, Maya’s Phaselock with Helios can be used quite effectively to farm Bandit Ashes. Look for individual enemies or small packs of weaker foes and set fire to them. Collect the Bandit Ashes they drop, and return to Incinerator Clayton.
