Surveyors are a class of support probes operated by Hyperion. Their primary purpose is to provide an efficient, mobile solution to maintaining Loaders in the field… Repair Surveyors can digitally mend many types of damage Loaders and can sustain even dire injuries like the loss of limbs. And Shield Surveyors can replenish depleted shields, along with filling the shields of enemies who have shield modules, but almost never show up with them charged up.
You can tell when a surveyor is attending to a Hyperion unit in need—the surveyor hovers over them and you’ll be able to see the faint energy tether through which surveyors repair and replenish. At least surveyors are easy marks to be shot down while they hover, repairing something.
When surveyors lack repair candidates, or if you harass them repeatedly with gunfire, they will swoop in great arcs, not too unlike rakk. Only, instead of divebombing with their bodies like rakk, they rocket in your direction and fire a Shocking bolt that destroys shields, then break off and go back to swooping.
Shield Surveyor
TVHM name: Energized Shield Shield
Surveyors predictably maintain shielding. If no Loaders need a shield refill, the Shield Surveyor deploys a bullet reflection shield and flies in great arcs, occasionally flying toward you to release a Shock bomb before swooping off again. If there’s a Loader that needs shield repairs, though, the Shield Surveyor disengages its reflective shield and hovers near the Loader to attend to the task. Naturally, this makes a great time to shoot them down easily.

Repair Surveyor
TVHM name: Reinforced Repair Surveyor
Repair Surveyors seek out physical damage rather than shield depletion. While it’s possible for you to blast the limbs off of Hyperion Loaders, it’s also possible for Repair Surveyors to digitally reconstruct those demolished appendages. Like other surveyors, the Repair Surveyor swoops in great ovals and occasionally divebombs targets with a Shock bomb. If Hyperion units are damaged, the Repair Surveyor will hover near them to digistruct new parts and limbs on the fly.

Badass Shield Surveyor
TVHM name: Super Badass Shield Surveyor
Like its standard analog, the Badass Shield Surveyor looks for allied units that need shield repairs. In the absence of any of them, the unit instead seeks enemies to divebomb. When a Badass Shield Surveyor swoops in at a target, it releases three Shock bombs rather than just one.

Badass Repair Surveyor
TVHM name: Super Badass Repair Surveyor
Badass Repair Surveyors look for damaged Loaders, first and foremost. These, they repair with a digistruction beam. Even annihilated limbs can be reconstituted by these probes (well, for robots, anyway).
When there aren’t any Hyperion forces in need of repair, Badass Repair Surveyors swoop in big arcs and bombard enemies with trios of Shock bombs, like Badass Shield Surveyors.
