Claim the Crumpets of Flamerock Refuge

This quest is a lot of work, requiring you to find 15 well-hidden items across five areas. You can find an area’s crumpets in whatever you order like, but you must find them all before you’ll be able to claim any crumpets from the next area on the list. This guide discusses the crumpets of Flamerock Refuge here, and the rest in the map sections of their respective areas.

The first plate of crumpets is sitting in plain sight on a crate near the entrance to the forest.

From the Quick Change station in Flamerock Refuge, look south across the chasm. You’ll see a thick rope you can walk across to reach a second plate of crumpets.

Travel to the tree at the southern tip of Flamerock Refuge, where the final plate of crumpets is hidden in a pile of bones.

Unassuming Docks of Potentially Little Importance

Now that you have your marching orders, a quick trip back to the Unassuming Docks gives you a chance to pick up the next batch of crumpets, loot some chests, and meet the legendary Spatula Khan. Heading up the stairs directly west of the entrance from Flamerock Refuge leads you to a small hill that holds a loot chest and a Cult of the Vault symbol, and from which you can leap down onto the first plate of crumpets. The second plate is on one of the hamlet’s docks, and the third can be found in the Forlorn Shore to the north, where you can also find two chests and another vault symbol. Make sure to grab all three crumpets before moving on to the forest.

Cult of the Vault

Ascend the steps west of the entrance to Flamerock Refuge, and circle around to the southwest side of the house atop the small hill. The symbol is under the balcony.

Travel northeast to the ruins at the end of the Forlorn Shore. The symbol is etched on the southeast side of a cube-shaped chunk of rubble.

Travel south to the Unrelatively Unvisited Shoreline, and look for some rubble in the water just past the entrance to the Flavor Cave. The vault symbol is on the side that faces the ocean.

Crumpets

Ascend the steps west of the entrance to Flamerock Refuge, and circle around the house atop the small hill. Jump up the ledge past the vault symbol, and travel to the northern tip of the hill. Step off the ledge to the north to drop onto the roof of the building with the tall pipe-like chimney. Gently drop off the north tip of the roof to land on a balcony with a plate of crumpets.

In the northwest corner of the Hamlet of Swift Passing Through, walk to the tip of the dock that ends at a small building. There’s a plate of crumpets on the crate in front of the door.

There’s a ruined building at the northeast end of the Forlorn Shore, just northeast of the hamlet. Just northwest of the building, the final plate of crumpets sits beside a dice chest.

Rolling the Loot D20s

Chests in the Forlorn Shore and the Temple of Unwarranted Self-Importance mark the first appearance of “dice chests.” These chests contain random loot, like all chests, but the quality of the loot is determined by the number you roll on the 20-sided die atop the chest. The die on the left is rolled for free, but if you want to double your chances of getting some legendary loot (which requires a roll of 20), you can pay 5 Eridium to roll the die on the right, as well. You’ll then get loot determined by whichever roll is higher. (If that’s the left die, make sure to curse loudly for having wasted 5 Eridium on nothing.)

The Culinary Wrath of Spatula Khan

Follow the beach along the Unrelatively Unvisited Shoreline, and you’ll soon encounter a cave in the cliffs. Within stands Spatula Khan, a legendary chef who has grievances to share. And really, that’s about it—no loot, no side quests, just complaints. But at least you’ll complete a Challenge by finding him.

The Forest

The Forest was a charming place…until Tina realized that made for a boring campaign and evil-ed it up. Now it’s full of deadly treants, vile orcs, and venomous spiders. It’s also home to a variety of quest and Challenge objectives, from crumpets to orc banners.

Cult of the Vault

As you traverse The Forest’s main road, take the first major detour to the west to Old Glenn the Blacksmith’s cottage. The symbol has been etched into the wall behind the cottage, partially obscured by crates.

The second and final Cult of the Vault symbol is in the Blood Tree Camp, on the south side of one of the huts against the eastern border of the area.

Crumpets

As you traverse The Forest’s main road, take the first major detour to the west to Old Glenn the Blacksmith’s cottage. Examine the handle on his well to pull up the bucket, which holds a plate of crumpets.

Near the end of the diamond trail that leads through The Forest’s main road, a small ditch extends to the northwest, ending at a spider hole. A traveler has died in front of the hole, carrying a plate of crumpets.

In the northwest part of the Blood Tree Camp, a skeleton hangs from a cage in a tree. Shoot the glowing green part to blast it out of the tree, and the cage falls down, revealing an uneaten plate of crumpets.

Orc Banners

The orcs in the Blood Tree Camp are apparently highly motivated by ragged bits of cloth, and you can demoralize them by setting their threadbare banners ablaze with a flame weapon. Torch all four, and you’ll earn 5 Badass Points for completing the “Extreme Orc Makeover” challenge. The easiest banner to spot is atop a hut just east of the dice chest.

There are two more huts against the easternmost part of the Blood Tree Camp. The southern hut (the one with the Cult of the Vault symbol on it) has a banner on its roof.

After torching the banner on the southern hut, look northeast to the mountains beyond the huts. You’ll see a distant banner that’s unreachable by foot but perfectly reachable by bullet.

The final banner is on the rocky cliff surrounding the west side of the camp. Travel west from the fallen tree that acts as a ramp to the bloodfruit pool, and look up for a bright yellow banner.

Finding Princess Fluffybutt

There’s a hard-to-spot Easter egg in The Forest, but if you can spot it, you can complete the “SO. CUTE.” Challenge and earn a few Badass Points. Stop where you would turn west to go to Old Glenn the Blacksmith’s cottage, as shown below, and use a weapon with a good scope to scan the trees until you spot a small doll among the upper branches. Shoot it down, and then find and examine the fallen doll at the spot marked as “Princess Fluffybutt” on the map. That’s all there is to this—despite Torgue’s comments, he doesn’t say or do anything differently if you return to him after finding the doll.

The Immortal Woods

The Immortal Woods is the setting of the “MMORPGFPS” quest you received from Mr. Torgue, as well as the “Critical Failure” quest from Moxxi. You’ll also notice an “!” on the map that marks the location of the Crestfallen Player, who gives you a new “Lost Souls” quest. The Immortal Woods are a crumpet-free zone, but there are three vault symbols to find, one of which is quite challenging.

Cult of the Vault

In the southeast corner of the map, the first symbol has been carved into the west wall of a mausoleum. This one isn’t hard to spot.

The second Cult of the Vault symbol is against the northwest wall of the northern building in the Sacred Ruins, just east of the second bonfire in the Lost Souls quest.

The third symbol is a tough one. You can see it at the spot marked on the map, on a west-facing second-story wall. There’s no way to get to the second floor nearby, so you have to make your way to the northern ruins and look for a pile of rubble that allows you to jump onto a thin ledge running along the wall. Walk halfway down the ledge, then jump up a jagged ramp of bricks that you can use as a staircase to reach the upper level. From there, jump across a wide gap to the south (you can just barely make the jump from the lower part of the column).
