The Secret Lies in Fandir’s Grasp
After completing the game, return to the Lair of Infinite Agony. There, in the Hall of the Dead, you may discover a merchant named Mister Miz wandering the area. Speak to him, and he’ll offer to sell you a Mysterious Amulet for a sizable amount of money. The exact price seems to vary, but it will usually run you around 100K in the original mode and can cost well into the millions in the Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode. Alternatively, you can punch the seller in the face, which is free. (You can return later to buy the amulet.)
So what does the amulet do? It’s a relic that promises to raise your Friendship stat, something that has never appeared before and is never explained. The only confirmed effect is that when multiple players have it equipped at the same time, visual effects like floating hearts appear around their feet. It does not appear to improve your in-game performance in any way, and is most likely just a joke based on the equally mysterious Pendant in Dark Souls. However, acquiring and equipping it is the only way to unlock the “Hmmmmm” achievement/trophy.
After spending hours trying to figure out what the thing does, you’ll really come to appreciate the punch option.
Murderlin’s Temple
Hidden deep beneath Flamerock Refuge, Murderlin’s underground church hosts both a trap-filled combat arena and a massive nursery for his young son. How nice for him to have his family so close to his work.
Cult of the Vault
In the main area of the temple, by the vending machines, there’s an access shaft with a metal ladder against the south wall. The room below offers a nice view of the arena and a Cult of the Vault symbol.
The only way to get access to the Nursery is to accept “The Magic of Childhood” quest from Murderlin after completed the first five rounds of Magic Slaughter. The symbol is easy to find; just walk through the door and turn around.
