Borderlands 2 Game of the Year eGuide Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage

Battle: Twelve O Clock High

Mission Briefing

As it stands, Flyboy has no reason to fight you—he thinks he’s invincible, and he’s more focused on taking out Piston than scuffling with lower-ranked fighters like you. Mr. Torgue suggests that you mess up some of Flyboy’s buzzards and steal his toys. Once you’ve done that, Flyboy becomes furious and (because he is stupid) allows you into his lair so he can kill you. But you’ll actually kill HIM! That’s the TWIST!

Mission Objectives
  • Gather at the rally point.
  • Kill all Escort Buzzards.
  • Pick up Flyboy’s bling.

Buzzard Hunting

Mr. Torgue has tasked you with two objectives: shoot down two Escort Buzzards while simultaneously collecting five pieces of Flyboy’s bling in less than 5:00. Your success on this mission depends largely on your weaponry. You’re going to need something with a fast rate of fire and decent accuracy in order to shoot the green-glowing crates suspended beneath the Cargo Buzzards. Perhaps most important of all, you do not want to use any Torgue weaponry, since the projectiles are too slow to hit such distant moving targets. A sniper rifle can work in a pinch, but an assault rifle or SMG with a spread pattern (like the Vladof assault rifle awarded from Moxxi) works even better.

Shoot the crates beneath the Cargo Buzzards to knock Flyboy’s bling to the ground.

When it comes to shooting down the Escort Buzzards, it’s hard to beat a rocket launcher. Again, it’s important that it fires quickly, has fast projectiles, and either has a large magazine capacity (>4) or a rapid reload time.

This first instance of the battle isn’t as time-sensitive as the subsequent tiers are. Stick to the ground level unless chasing a fallen piece of Flyboy’s bling, and open fire only at the buzzards that are nearest you. Don’t chase them outside the immediate area. You’ll need to pick up each piece of Flyboy’s bling that is dropped. Save yourself some time by only shooting the crates as they approach your position or are directly overhead.

For best results, stick to the northern side of the staircases, just up the hill from the vending machines.

Rocket launchers can make quick work of the Escort Buzzards.

Tier 2 Battle: Twelve O’ Clock High
Fight the denizens of the unfriendly skies. Tier 2 difficulty.

Now that you’ve gotten the hang of the Twelve O’ Clock High battle, it’s time to increase the difficulty. You’ll have the same 5:00 you had last time, but now you have to collect eight pieces of Flyboy’s bling and shoot down four Escort Buzzards. Stock up on ammo at the vending machines, and head back up the hill to the rally point just like before.

The tricks to complete the second tier event are making every shot count, knowing when to let the Cargo Buzzards fly away, and only targeting the Escort Buzzards when they’re low enough to hit them multiple times. Focus on collecting Flyboy’s bling, then worry about the Escort Buzzards last.
