When you knock an enemy unconscious through electrocution (by stun gun, an exploding junction box, an electrical proximity trap, a thrown electroshock device, or the WTB grenade launcher), expect them to snooze for around two minutes. They then wake up, alert their squad, and investigate the area. Remember you still won’t be in conflict with the enemy if they haven’t spotted you, even if the enemy wakes up. Also remember you can re-tase an enemy that is already unconscious to “reset” the two-minute timer before they wake up, and do this continuously if this is advantageous to your tactics.
If a different enemy finds an unconscious foe (which usually happens after a tasering, as this creates a small amount of noise), they can wake up the unconscious enemy.
And Stay Down!: What are the best stealth-related ways to react to a sleeping foe waking up? You can:
- Head with speed to an objective and quickly complete it before you have to deal with the enemies searching for you.
- Remain in cover and tase (or electrocute) the enemy just as they wake up, so they fall asleep again.
- Remain in cover and tase the investigating enemy, as well as the sleeping one, so both are dropped. Continue this with additional foes to create a “pile” of snoozing enemies.
- Remain in cover, produce a suppressed weapon, and shoot the snoozing enemy to kill them while still completing objectives in silence. This is a violent plan frowned upon by true stealth professionals, but the “tase, then executive” is a very effective plan for each foe you see.
