Brief

There’s trouble at the Hackerspace and you need to figure out what’s happening—fast.

Someone is using deactivated and inert accounts at social media giant !Nvite to bolster DedSec’s numbers. Time to figure out who and why at !Nvite.

Location

1. Hackerspace (DedSec HQ), Mission Dolores Park, San Francisco.

2. !Nvite Headquarters, three blocks northwest of Hackerspace, San Francisco.

Infiltration Points

You’re investigating the offices of !Nvite, and in particular the accessible building in the northwest part of the block the offices are located on. There are no enemies; this is a simple infiltration.

Front Doors (Northwest):

Located on the northwest perimeter by the main street, these three doors require an access key to open. Handy, then, that you can use the remote security cameras to quickly find the laptop in the lounge, hack it remotely, and make this an easy infiltration.

Deck Gardens (Southeast):

The two doors accessible from the deck and recreation gardens outside the building, close to the steps with the huge !Nvite signs, are both locked and need an access key. However, the two vents above the doors allow you to maneuver a drone in here to obtain the key remotely.

South Building Stairwell:

Opposite the deck gardens doors is an interior stairwell and a bridge leading to the upper floor of the !Nvite offices. Though the door needs hacking with an access key, the floor vent around the corner (opposite the doors) does not and provides a great insertion point for your RC Jumper.

POIs and Objective Points

Access Key (Laptop)

This access key is in the lounge near the “#Coffee Break” area in the central-western part of the ground floor. You must hack this. Use a drone (sent through one of the vents). All doors are now accessible.

Closed-Circuit Terminal

On the wall inside a small enclosed office along the northeast perimeter wall of the upper floor, in the “#Tech Support” area, this provides power to the elevator. You must unlock this, either on foot or with the RC Jumper.

Elevator

Found in the main lobby, this takes you to the CEO’s office. Unlock the CCT to power the elevator. You must access this objective on foot; the Jumper is too tiny to reach the elevator panel.

Paths to Completion

As this isn’t a restricted area, and you’re under no threats from enemies, this is an easy sortie. Here are a couple of favorite ways to enter the premises.

Remote Control

From Infiltration Point (IP) 3, launch the RC Jumper through the ground vent, up the stairwell, and across the bridge (A.1), into the interior’s upper floor. Cross the shiny floor (A.2) heading northwest, then turn right (northeast), hack the tech support office (A.3), enter, and unlock the CCT.

Backtrack, then jump over the balcony into the main foyer. Head right into the lounge, and hack the laptop with the access key on it. Now hack any open door on foot, and move to the elevator in the foyer.

Out for a Stroll

Jog around to the front of the building and IP 1. Stand by the front doors, use a remote camera to find the laptop in the lounge, and hack the access key. Open the door, jog straight to the stairs right of the central elevator, then go up to the second floor (B.1). Jog around to the tech support office, hack open the door, unlock the CCT, then drop over any balcony to the lobby and summon the elevator.

Your snooping is interrupted by a guy with a man-bun—the CTO of Blume. After a discussion that gets a little heated, you realize Blume is using DedSec for his own nefarious schemes. And now there’s a warrant out for you. The conversation begins poorly and ends badly; the police are storming the building looking for you!

With the SFPD station around the corner, and four police vehicles parked outside the north entrance, it’s time to flee. Exit via the southeast doors, and locate a vehicle immediately (not a police one)! Then take evasive maneuvers as you’ve previously learned, until you lose the cops. However, it’s going to take more than hiding in a garage to absolve you of your notoriety now. It looks like DedSec’s going to have to disband for a while.
