Watch Dogs 2 eGuide Online Operations

Operation Types

There are five different types of operation. Though they each have a different name depending on the Faction you’re fighting against (which is detailed in a forthcoming table), the overall main objectives are the same for each type. To see the operation name in-game, access the DedSec App and choose the appropriate Online Operation. Here are the five types:

Data Breach

Data hidden within the restricted area must be located, and the contents downloaded. The data can be hacked by either drone or Marcus. When the download triggers, a radius appears (both on your minimap and in NetHack view). One or both players must remain within this radius until the download is complete. Then both must flee to complete the operation.

A prisoner, who could be of a rival faction or a member of DedSec, is cuffed and kidnapped, sitting or lying somewhere within the restricted area. They must be rescued by the player (not a drone) physically untying the prisoner. After that, both players should flee (the prisoner makes his or her own way out).

Two encrypted hard drives must be recovered. They are each carried by a hostile, who must first be neutralized (either in a vehicle, or within the restricted area). Make too much noise, and one or both hostiles may flee. The hard drive can be gathered on foot, or using the RC Jumper, from the body of the hostile. Once both hard drives are recovered, you must flee.

Objectives

When you begin an operation, you have a mandatory objective to complete, along with a general location to reach, followed by a specific location once the restricted area is breached. In addition, you may have a secondary and optional objective, such as driving a vehicle to its destination within a specific amount of time. Though you receive greater rewards (points to your Online Leaderboard) if the optional objectives are complete, they aren’t necessary. Optional objectives appear in the top-left corner of your screen, and are completely self-explanatory. Remember to talk to your partner if objectives need to be destroyed at the same time, so you can time it right.
