Watch Dogs 2 Guide › Side Operations › Shadows

4. Operation—Fox

Objectives

Warn Aiden Pearce about the trap.

Brief

Aiden Pearce has left a trail of dead Auntie Shu and Bratva thugs in his efforts to shut down a large-scale human trafficking ring. DedSec is going to make sure he succeeds.

Hostiles

Bratva Gang

Location

Fort Funston, concrete bunker, south end of Ocean Beach, San Francisco.

It’s a long journey south, down Ocean Beach, to one of the old World War II bunkers called Fort Funston. You must find which one is holding Aiden Pearce. Locate the area, but don’t worry about hostiles on the surface.

Infiltration Points

Bunker Door (North):

Access this via the beach, woods, or a ladder from above. Hack the door and enter the bunker heading south.

Bunker Door (South):

An identical hackable door is located to the south. Enter it in the same manner. Both lead to the initial chamber. The only difference is the open ground vent at the south door (facing north), allowing an RC Jumper or drone into the bunker without needing to hack the door.

Central Parapet:

Between the two bunker entrances is a small central parapet of squared-off concrete wall sections. Of particular interest is a window slit on the ocean (west) side. Drop either the Quadcopter or RC Jumper down here, and you can infiltrate right into the lowest subterranean storage room.

POIs and Objective Points

ctOS Box

The ctOS box that accesses Aiden Pearce’s cell is in the bunker’s lower level, in a small side storage room. It requires a physical hack by you or the RC Jumper.

Paths to Completion

With only four guards to contend with, this subterranean infiltration is easier than it initially appears.

Aidin’ the Fox

Enter via either infiltration point, creep to the first chamber, wait for one of the guards to head down the stairs, then deal with the other guard with a swift tasering. Follow the second guard down the stairs, subduing him before he opens the door to the lower chamber.

Then push open the door slightly. Hack either door inside the room to cause the guards to look around. Quickly step in and tase both of them (or tase, then charge and melee-strike the last guard). Now open the door to the room with the ctOS box. Once Aiden is freed, be sure to escape the way you came in (as the four foes will have woken up).

A Remote Route to the Box

Drop the RC Jumper in front of the open vent near IP2, then trundle to the right side of the first room. Follow the guard as he opens the door and walks down the stairs (so you don’t disturb the other guard). At the bottom of the stairs, steer right (north) into the duct instead of through the door.

Follow the duct around, stopping before the exit into the lower chamber, as you’re easily spotted. Hack the door to the west, and the enemies here turn to look. Then scoot out, take cover behind a crate, and wind into the dead-end room to the south using a mixture of patience and quick maneuvering. It’s difficult—you mainly use the RC Jumper to see who’s down here before you attempt “Aidin’ the Fox”—but it’s possible. Then physically hack the ctOS box using the Jumper.

Another, much easier method of reaching the objective is to bounce the RC Jumper up through the window slit in the central parapet exterior. Distract both guards in the lower chamber, and reach the objective remotely.

A Plan Most Orthodox

Using weapons to remove foes permanently is actually easier than usual, if you keep heading down and attempting quick executions, as reinforcements don’t usually reach you. Plus, your foes don’t wake up as you try to escape afterward.

After accessing a camera inside Aiden Pearce’s cell, wait for the guard to walk past, then buzz his cell phone, causing him to stop by the barred cell door. This allows Pearce to subdue the guard, nod his approval in your general direction, and make good his escape. You just did a tag-team with Aiden Pearce the Fox! The mission concludes. Now head back to the surface, making sure to deal with the four guards you encountered before.
