1. Operation—Hack And Run

When you wish to start this operation, activate it on your DedSec app, return to the Hackerspace, and watch the trailer with an overly excited Wrench. After the trailer drops, it’s agreed that it needs more than a little work, and the cheesy dialogue and talking car aren’t going to help the movie. Exit the Hackerspace, locate any vehicle you wish, and drive to the HMP Studio front gate, hack the gate, and drive to the studio warehouse itself. Check the area for valid infiltration points:

Infiltration Points Unloading Gates (Southeast): This is the main entrance, which offers the widest entrance and the most opportunities for being spotted. Note the CyberDriver truck parked at the main garage entrance. You can sneak through at this point, or you can use the scissor lift, climb onto the roof of the attached building to the left, and hack the door to an upper catwalk. Low Roof Deck (Southwest): Take the scissor lift from Infiltration Point 1, or the lift parked on the grassy trail to the northwest. Drive it to the low connecting structure at the courtyard with the giant HMP sign. Raise the lift and hop onto the low roof deck. To the northeast is the redbrick movie studio and a locked security door. Scan the room for patrolling guards (NetHack), then drop in your RC Jumper. Move the RC Jumper to the CCT and hack it to unlock the door. Then infiltrate. Back Door (Northwest): Don’t overlook this security door, which is easily hacked, to the rear of the building. It allows you to surreptitiously maneuver into the main ground floor stage area, offering good access to the objective points, the access code on the laptop near the subway carriage, and hiding places behind some pallets.

POIs and Objective Points Access Key The single access key is located on a laptop on the green-screen subway stage. It’s reasonably difficult to reach on foot, so hacking it remotely (cycle through the cameras to the one on the rails by the subway, and then remotely move it along the rails until you see the laptop with the access key) or using a drone is the best way to retrieve it. Use it on either of the locked doors to the movie script room. Note there’s an open door to the room, too, so the access key isn’t a mandatory item to obtain. Closed-Circuit Terminal The CCT is located in the small production hallway near the studio emails data container objective. It allows you to hack the two doors (one exterior at Infiltration Point 2, the other an interior door on the southeast wall leading to the gantry balcony). However, the only way into the production office (southwest) is via the unlocked door on the room’s northwest side. Collectible This bag of cash is located atop a planter, which is accessible from Infiltration Point 2. You need to physically pick it up using the RC Jumper or your own hands. Movie Script This is on a tablet inside a locked room, which requires an access code to enter. You must use the access key found on the laptop on the upper green-screen subway gantry section of the set, along the northwest wall. Or, you can use your RC Jumper at the ground grate under the wooden stairs, just left of the locked room door (if you’re facing north). Use the access key found on a laptop on the green-screen subway section of the set, along the northwest wall. Open the pair of double doors (which don’t require the access code) under the large “theater” awning part of the set. Studio Emails These are held in a production office along the southwest interior perimeter (upper level). This office has two interior doors (one unlocked via a simple hack) and can be accessed in a number of ways: Via the stairwells on either side of the office (ground floor). Via the stacked wooden crates, scaffold, or pallet stacks (ground floor), using parkour and sprinting. Via the ladder to the gantry in front of the production office. Via Infiltration Point 2, assuming an RC Jumper hacks the CCT so you can enter. The room with the hard drive containing the emails has a single entrance and is easily accessed either on foot or by using an RC Jumper—maneuver it through either the open door or through the wall access near the trash can and dining table.

Paths to Completion

There are numerous methods of completing the objectives (which can be attempted in any order) inside this movie studio set. The following options range from optimal to less than subtle. Don’t forget you can use the on-set police vehicles to flee the scene; it’s the only time you can drive them during this adventure!

Motion Undetected

This gathers both objectives with minimal interactions. Enter at Infiltration Point 1 (ground floor). Creep right, behind the stage set, to the warehouse’s eastern corner. Move to the corner of the script room, just right of the locked door (A.1), and throttle the first guard when he returns on patrol and rounds the corner. Quickly follow a second guard, who heads down the scenery stairs to your right. Then you can:

Then you can use NetHack and cycle through the cameras to remotely hack the access key (via the camera on rails behind the subway car, assuming you’ve unlocked the Remote CTRL > Environmental RC skill). Then unlock the door and download the script.

Or, simply sneak onto the stage below the theater awning (A.2), hack the double doors now you have the access key, and head into the locked room to access the movie script.

Move to the ladder in the building’s eastern corner, and climb it to the gantry (A.3). Move along above Infiltration Point 1, and creep around to the structure’s south corner; then use NetHack to locate guards near the production office. Crouch down at the corner of the office on the gantry (A.4), just right of the locked door, which requires the CCT unlock. Wait for a patrolling guard to head your way, and drop him. Do this at the corner, away from the gantry balcony, so others don’t see you.

Continue around the gantry, passing the production office windows and seeking cover by the hackable door into the office (A.5). A guard may exit this office; throttle him at the door threshold, or enter the production office (via the accessible door) and grab him in here. Access the email server data container, then unlock the CCT and escape via Infiltration Point 2.

Commotion Undetected

This removes all the guard threats in silence: Enter at Infiltration Point 1 (ground floor), and head left, scanning for the hostiles on the ground and the balcony. Turn left, and locate the first guard among the crate stacks (B.1). Take him down with a tase or a throttle (the Thunderball attracts too much attention, so remain stealthy to avoid automatically using it). As always, optionally kill each guard afterward with a silenced weapon.

Climb the stairs to the production office, move past the locked door, and wait at the corner for the guard patrolling on the gantry to pass the windows. As he nears the corner, step out and strangle him (B.2). Pass the production office windows, drop to the ground, and subdue the guard patrolling the western ground area. Use the stacks of wood and pallets as cover.

Climb the stairs to the northwestern side of the production office (B.3). Open the hackable door of the production office. Quickly step in and throttle the guard before he can react. Hide so the next guard doesn’t see you. Sneak along the gantry toward the area above Infiltration Point 3, up the steps to the subway carriage (B.4). Throttle another guard, if one presents themselves in your vicinity. Pass by the subway, hacking the laptop for the access key as you go.

Drop down in the northern corner of the green-screen area (B.5). Turn and tase the guard patrolling the roof of the movie script room. Drop down, sneak around the room’s perimeter, and throttle the last guard standing by the southeast door into the movie script room. Next, simply complete each objective in whatever order you wish and leave. This path allows you the satisfaction of clearing the entire area of hostiles.

Commotion Detected

If you need a more violent fix, enter via Infiltration Point 1 (use the scissor lift and enter through the hackable door above and left of the main entrance). Remain on the upper gantry so you have the height and protection advantages before bringing your favored weapons to bear on the hapless security. This isn’t subtle, but it gets the job done. Expect reinforcements, but remaining mobile and taking up defensive positions at the subway carriage or atop the theater awning allow you to remove threats without being overrun.

Vehicles aren’t recommended for this mission, but you can weave your way into the warehouse on a bike, or back in the CyberDriver truck to use it as cover or to climb to the gantry. However, chaos usually ensues afterward.

Remotely controlling the vehicles (assuming you have the Vehicle Directional Hack skill) parked inside the warehouse, and ramming them into the guards, or hacking the explosive grenades some guards are carrying are also amusing diversions; this can be done using your Quadcopter or the remote cameras while you remain safe (and you can even stay outside the restricted area!).

Drone Expected

Need to remain by the studio gate, allowing for an easy getaway? Your RC Jumper is excellent for maneuvering into the production office to download the emails (use Path A to reach there). However, your Quadcopter can complete the email hack without you even being on the premises! Simply fly it through Infiltration Point 1, open the double doors below the theater awning, fly into the room, and hack the tablet, and you’re done. The Quadcopter is also great at priming the junction boxes and transformer vaults dotted around, though this can be done via NetHack and cameras.

Once you meet the objectives, flee the movie studio in any direction you wish. Sitara updates you with news she’s contacted a paparazzi with information on where the CyberDriver car may be stored.
