Watch Dogs 2 eGuide Side Operations Kickin’ It Old School

2. Operation—VIP 3. Operation—Legacy

Objectives

Wipe the Scotts’ family records.

Brief

Scott may be dead, but his family’s still at risk as long as they’re in the system. The man left behind a legacy of NSA leaks, so the least DedSec can do is protect his family. Find their records and permanently delete them.

Hostiles

Sons of Ragnarok Gang

Location

Gang hideout, concrete overlook northwest of Kirby Cove, Marin.

It seems Mikkelsen was on to something, and now a man named Scott has paid the price. Wiping the family records requires a visit to a coastal overlook where a number of gang members are hiding out. Head there by vehicle, parking southeast of the restricted area.

Infiltration Points

Radio Mast and Concrete Tower (East):

This spot is the closest to the road and easiest to reach without being spotted. The gaps in the fence make infiltration easy, and the gang members aren’t out in force here. A good place to start.

Southern Steps:

Midway between the upper structures and lower bunker, you’re risking being spotted by enemies at both sides, so heading up these steps is only wise if you’re planning a firefight. Note the collectible inside the storm drainage area close to here; use the RC Jumper to grab it.

Western Bunker:

This maze of old concrete structures to the west is good for hiding in and stepping out to neutralize foes. It’s also a good spot to flee to if combat occurs. Watch you aren’t outgunned from above. There’s a Research Point in one of the small concrete huts to gather too (see Path A below).

Northern Rocks:

The entire perimeter of this hideout is “porous”; sneaking around to enter via the northern rocks is another good idea, as enemy patrols aren’t as numerous. This is a good spot to remain during a firefight, too.

POIs and Objective Points

Laptop

This objective is inside one of the two small concrete huts on the upper “tower” area. You can enter the hut via the opening to the southwest, or you can attempt the simple hack from outside.

Paths to Completion

There are many ways to face down the gang here, from complete annihilation to remote hacking without them even seeing you.

Ghost Recon

Head to the tower and antenna area but remain just outside the restricted area and look west, along the rusty fence (A.1). Tase the foe guarding this fence area (in the vicinity of the south steps). Return to the concrete tower, step through the mesh doorway just to one side of the tower, and strangle the foe here.

Then quickly step left (south) of the first hut, to the foe around the corner to the right, and throttle him (A.2). Then throttle the foe standing in front of the window where the laptop is. This allows you to quickly complete the objective right now.

However, you can continue down the steps along the northern perimeter of the restricted area, heading west to the concrete hut where you can gather the Research Point. Then simply scour the western area for the remaining guards and tase them from range. Before any wake up, quickly use your RC Jumper to gather the collectible from the storm drain near the south steps (A.3).

A Drone to Count On

Pick a good hiding spot away from the guards, throw your Quadcopter up, and hover it above the laptop to hack it. No mess. No fuss.

A Remote Automaton

You can also use the RC Jumper. Drive it to IP4, for quick and easy access to the laptop hut. Back up and make a counterclockwise sweep of the western bunker to gather the Research Point; then head to the southern storm drain to grab the collectible.

This path is also possible with Marcus, providing you neutralize the single guard outside the laptop hut or coax him away (using an object hack or your drone’s “voice”).

Instead of Brains? Brawn

Remain at the upper huts near the antenna so you have the height advantage. The hut without the laptop in it is a good spot from which to snipe or defend. There’s a variety of explosive barrels, ground plates, and wall boxes to detonate, too.

Once the upload is complete, Wrench tells you DedSec sent a message exposing the mole to Mikkelsen’s other colleagues. The operation concludes.
