Every person, whether an innocent citizen or a private guard that you need to neutralize, can also be manipulated to your advantage. While you’re holding down your Hack button to target an individual, a hacking module appears, granting you a choice of up to four options: Acquire, Call the Police, Distract, and Call a Gang
Acquire (Intel): This hacks into any text, phone, or other conversation the person is having. This is usually just for flavor when hacking civilians.
Acquire (BotNet): This quickly regenerates any BotNet resources you have used, which haven’t regenerated yet. This is incredibly helpful and should be a habit of yours.
Acquire (Resources): This utilizes the phone as a miniature taser, which can electrocute the target and make them fall to the ground unconscious.
Acquire (Bank Account): Siphon funds directly into your bank account. This is a great way to quickly gather enough funds to purchase drones and weapons.
Acquire (Detonate): If a well-armed enemy is carrying grenades, this simply primes a grenade and causes it to detonate on the foe. Though loud, it’s a great way to remove threats you don’t mind killing, at range.
Call the Police: This enables you to select a target and call cops to apprehend them. This even works on other cops! You need to wait a few moments for the police to arrive, and arrest the foe or engage them in a firefight. This can cause havoc during stealth infiltrations, but it can also cause excellent distractions that leave you alone to complete objectives.
Distract (Phone Call): One of the most useful hacks you’ll ever use, this causes the enemy to pick up their phone and check it. As they’re preoccupied with their device, you can move yourself or your drone straight past them (to melee range) without being spotted. This forms the cornerstone of any great stealth infiltration.
Distract (Noise): If you’re using the distract hack on an opponent who is actively pursuing you or attacking you, he won’t be stopping to take a fake phone call, will he? Fortunately, instead this causes his earpiece to make an ear-bleedingly unpleasant noise, temporarily incapacitating him for a few seconds. Use this time to step to him and melee attack, kill him, or avoid him. Another hack that saves your life time and time again.
Call a Gang: This is similar to calling the police but instead signals a rival gang to come in and fight the foe you’ve selected. Use this on police forces you engage in or during any operation or infiltration (just like the “call the police” hack), to remove a foe and to use distractions to help you complete an objective.
