Special Unlock Required

After completing a DedSec retooling of the CyberDriver car, you may be called upon to visit the Embarcadero Center and acquire Key Data. After that, return to the garage, and ready yourself for some remote control car action.

Driving a car remotely is exactly the same as driving one while sitting in the driver’s seat. However, the CyberDriver vehicle has a few improvements that make it real pleasant to drive erratically around town.

It has infinite nitro boost (Engine Override Research skill; press to hold and initiate the nitro until you either need to slow down or the tailpipe emissions stop spurting green).

If you have the Vehicle Hacks skill, you can hack any traffic (ideally oncoming vehicles or those blocking your path) to automatically steer to the side. Do this at range and swerve around them.

When driving like a maniac, you have a series of archway checkpoint gates to reach within a set number of seconds. As long as you follow the route, you’ll be fine.

Look ahead at least one gate so you can see gates that require a turn in order to line up properly. Can’t see a gate? Then you may need to make a sharp corner turn!

Stay in the middle of the road so you can swerve left or right of obstacles (usually vehicles). Also remember you can smash through telephone poles and lampposts, but tree trunks are solid!

Need to be the very best? Shave seconds off your time by heading through the outer edges of each illuminated gate, if that allows you to make a quicker turn. Otherwise, stay in the middle during straightaways.

Paths to Completion

Remote Control

There is only one way to remotely control the CyberDriver car through the streets of San Francisco, and that’s to follow the route shown in the adjacent guide map. The following information shows what to watch out for at some of the key gates during the mission:

Gates 1-2

Gain speed, then boost and turn very slightly right just before the jump to line up for Gate 3.

Gates 3-6

Cut right on the grass. Watch for concrete obstacles. E-brake left at Gate 6.

Gates 6-10

Remain in the middle of the road and boost. Ease off the accelerator at Gate 10.

Gates 11-12

Watch for the concrete steps on your right, just before Gate 12. Slow slightly to avoid them, or you may mess up the racing line through Gate 12.

Gates 13-18

E-brake at the corners. Boost excessively! E-brake at Gate 15 and boost to the jump at Gate 17. Land to the right of the circular concrete sea defenses structure.

Gates 19-21

Head onto the sand, lining up for Gate 20 so you miss any concrete barriers. Drive up the concrete steps and fly over the building and hedges, lining up for Gate 21 without losing too much speed.

Gates 21-26

Remain in the middle, dodging trams and vehicles. Boost until you’re a block away from Gate 26. Make a sharp left.

Gates 26-32

Do the usual e-braking and acceleration until you reach Gate 31. Line up slightly left of center for this gate as you drive through the pedestrian area.

Gates 32-Finish

Accelerate and remain in the center of the road, thus avoiding any police barricades. Make a slight right turn as you launch from the ramp at Gate 35.
