2. Operation—Masquerade

Objectives

Meet the DedSec Follower near MOMA.

Locate and hack people wearing rat masks (3).

Leave the area.

Brief

People have been reporting weird people in rat masks hanging around the Museum of Modern Art. DedSec is going to find them and hack them to try to figure out what’s going on.

Location

1. Coffee shop one block northeast of Mission Dolores Park, San Francisco.

2. Unloading bay, building one block southwest of SFMOMA, San Francisco.

3. Checkerboard floor art gallery entrance, one block southwest of SFMOMA, San Francisco.

4. Unloading alley, behind SFMOMA, San Francisco.

Both the DedSec Follower and the MOMA building are relatively close to your Hackerspace. Find the Follower (“Snickerdoodle”), and she fills you in on the rat-eared crew bothering folks at the art museum. Time for pest control. The following three people can be found in any order you like, and require a simple hack to discover more about them (meaning you, or either drone can do the job). Use NetHack to ascertain the locations of the first two people easily.

Rat-Masked Anarchist 1: From Snickerdoodle, jog along with SFMOMA building and find the first anarchist in a small unloading bay.

Rat-Masked Anarchist 2: Continue around this city block to a checkerboard floored entrance to an art gallery, where another rat-man is bothering the public.

Rat-Masked Anarchist 3: It seems one of the three rat-masked people is tagging a low roof area in the unloading dock and alleys behind the SFMOMA building. Beware of Umeni guards patrolling this area.

Infiltration Points

Northwest Fence:

This is the closest to the objective, but you can’t climb over the iron fencing, unless you use a nearby parked vehicle. Drive it to the container adjacent to the wall and hop over.

Northeast Security Hut:

The barrier and small security hut to the northeast offer a wide access if you want to drive a vehicle through here. There are two guards close to each other, making stealth infiltrations more tricky.

Eastern Open Gate:

Though this allows easy access into the unloading area, you appear in the middle of the guards’ patrol paths and are more easily spotted. This is a good place to tase or snipe from, though.

South Security Hut:

This is the optimal spot for stealthily infiltrating this restricted area, as you can quickly subdue or tase guards one at a time without being spotted and can easily secure the area.

POIs and Objective Points

Key Data (SFMOMA)

Inside a container, behind a van parked inside the container, is the key data for this area. Access it using the RC Jumper; drive it under the van, to the rear of the container and physically gather the key data.

Rat-Masked Objective

The objective is on a low roof in the northern part of the restricted area, near the graffiti of Defalt, and is more easily hacked remotely.
Paths to Completion

There doesn’t have to be any physical infiltration of this restricted area, though the key data in SFMOMA is a good reason to bring the drone toys with you.

All Techniques Are Potent

This allows you to subdue all four guards and gather the key data. Enter from IP4, round the corner, and use the RC Jumper to gather the key data from the inside of the nearby container with the van parked in it. Then subdue the nearest guard.

Check the guard to the north; use the crates as cover and peek out to tase, spark the ground vault so the guard investigates (then explode it or tase him), or maneuver up to and strangle him. If there are two guards by the security hut opposite, activate the barrier so they are preoccupied, before quickly tasing both of them. Finally, climb to the objective and hack him before leaving prior to any guards waking up.

Reaching Out for the Rodent

Simply fly your Quadcopter from any infiltration point, to the objective, and hack him. If you park a vehicle near IP1, you can use the RC Jumper to hop over the container, the fence, and then the metal awning to the low roof where the target is. Afterward, you can continue using the RC Jumper to claim the key data too.

With all three of the anarchists hacked, simply leave the highlighted area around MOMA, and the mission updates.
