1. Operation—Peeping Toms

POIs and Objective Points FBI Van This is the epicenter of your download; staying within the download radius of this stationary vehicle (or mobile if you decide to drive it) is the key to completing this task. Remember it is the van’s radius you need to be within, so stealing the van or remotely driving it to a location where you’re standing are also viable options.

Arrive at the Thalassa Bar, and meet up with the rest of the crew. Your festivities take a serious turn when Miranda texts you regarding someone spying on you from right outside! You’re on it, though. Head outside, and use NetHack to determine an area of interest. When you’re about 60 meters away, a download radius appears as you spot a van with five hostiles standing next to it. The five enemies don’t have an affiliation you can see when you hack them.

After the download begins, Wrench soon realizes you’ve hacked into the FBI’s database, and reinforcements arrive, the download stalls, and you have a few moments when the FBI are looking for you. This continues as the download begins again. As soon as the download bar fills, you can break off from the download radius and escape.

Paths To Completion

At this point, it’s worth making a few plans before stepping into the download radius, as the situation turns more hectic as soon as the download begins. The following details places to hide:

An Explosive Drop

Take cover at the eastern wall of the building with the white siding, next to the yellow Victorian beach house, in the north-south alley (A.1), which is at the southeast edge of the download area. Drop electroshock bombs at the alley’s south end and close to where you’re standing. Then launch your Quadcopter into the skies. Remain in cover (downloading as fast as possible), and drop electroshock bombs on the nearby FBI if they come close to your hiding spot. When the FBI reinforcement SUVs arrive, vehicle hack them so they reverse out of the alley to the east, giving you extra time. If FBI agents are stalking you, drop electroshock bombs to neutralize them. Keep this up until the download is complete. Then back away to the south, then the east, escaping via the shore.

The trash storage area in the south part of the parking lot and the side or roof of the van are the only other viable areas, but you’re always spotted and usually overwhelmed when reinforcements arrive.

A Building Hop

Ignore the initial hacking of the FBI van, and run along the wooden decking by the water, to the van’s southwest; then go north to the apartment complex (B.1) overlooking the parking lot. Climb to the third floor, lay electroshock bombs (proximity traps) at the stairwell and exit directions, and then hack the van. Remotely drive it, then turn it left so it stops below you, at the edge of the apartment building (B.2). Download from here, usually without the need for interaction with the FBI at all!

Other options? Climb onto the van’s roof, then remotely drive it away with you on it. Entertaining but horribly dangerous. If you must try this, tase the nearby guards while on the roof, before you start moving the van.

No Time to Stop

Or, you can steal the van, either by distracting the agents nearest to you, and then speeding away (under the apartment structure gives you good cover) or by moving into the apartment complex on foot and remote-controlling the van over to you. Then speed away (though “speeding” isn’t this vehicle’s forte). Execute all plans you would during a normal chase, but don’t let the vehicle get destroyed or the mission fails. Flee only after the download is complete, ideally to a nearby vehicle, where you can then make escape maneuvers.

A Remote Prop

From the Thalassa Bar, run left (west) along the road until it bends to the right (north). Hide in the front yard of the house on the inside of the bend, near the parked vehicle; you can use this as a getaway vehicle. Fly your Quadcopter above the van. Hack and remotely steer it to the bend in the road near where you are, until the download starts. Then use electroshock bombs to block the road with innocent traffic, stopping the FBI from closing in. Wait for the download to end, and flee.
