Watch Dogs 2 Guide › Side Operations › The Name Game

5. Operation—Rogue Radio

Objectives

Hack the transmitter on the tower.

Brief

We raided the apartment of a Prime_Eight skiddie and found evidence that they’re planning to go bigger with the doxing, hacking local radio signals to broadcast our names. We’ve got a surprise for them—a little tampering and we’ll make sure the names they broadcast are their own.

Hostiles

Umeni Security Corps

Location

Radio Mast compound, Yerba Buena Island, San Francisco.

Head across the Bay Bridge to Yerba Buena Island, and locate the small hilltop compound in the woods above the freeway tunnel. The guards who patrol this place are very heavily armed with faction forces, so use extreme caution.

Infiltration Points

Northwest Entrance:

The gap in the fence to the northwest follows the road into the compound and allows you to storm the area using vehicles (or steal any of the trucks parked in here and use them to escape). Expect heavy fire if you’re aggressive—sneak in here instead.

Dog Pen (East):

The pen is empty. This is a good place to infiltrate, as you can quickly tase all the dogs, and climb onto the stacked pallets and onto the roof of the building to the southeast.

South Entrance:This is much like the north entrance—heavily guarded—though sneaking in and stepping to the right (east) allows you to work your way to the southeast building roof or dog pen without being spotted. There’s also a heavily armored MRAP truck parked to the left; this is great for seeking protection if the infiltration turns violent.

Silo Gap (West):

Adjacent to the giant circular silo and fence is a gap to utilize. Either by tasing or sniping outside the restricted area or by infiltrating and using the objects in the northwest corner of the yard as cover.

POIs and Objective Points

Key Data

Found in a suitcase in the eastern part of the compound, adjacent to the objective, at the base of the radio tower.

Building Security Router Unit and Radio Tower

The objective is adjacent to the key data suitcase for this area, at the foot of the inaccessible hut with the radio mast above it, in the northeast area of the compound. Also be aware you must hack the tower mast to activate it. You must do this using the drone, ideally after fleeing to safety.

Paths to Completion

Infiltrating and tasing (or choking) everyone is almost impossible, so a stealth approach should also include permanently removing foes using a suppressed weapon after you subdue them. Here are some tried-and-true plans:

The Stealth Game

Start outside the north entrance and tase the guard standing there, ensuring no one else sees this. Head south around the small warehouse building (A.1) and look west, tasing the guard near IP3. Then creep around the MRAP (big military vehicle) and throttle the guard here. Use suppressed weapons on both of them afterward so they don’t wake up.

Climb the southeast warehouse building that the dog pen is attached to (A.2). Now use quick, accurate taser shots, taking down the patrolling guard close to the silo using the junction box; then tase his friend from the roof you’re on. Mop up the rest next. Violence may then occur.

Other options are to run around the perimeter, tasing and then moving (though the foes wake each other up), or using your suppressed weaponry for a more permanent solution. You can also shoot through the gaps in the metal fencing, too.

A Forklift Claim

There’s usually a forklift by the dog pen. Drive it out of the adjacent gap in the fence, outside the restricted area, then north to the fence by the objective. Stand on the forklift and use it to get over the fence. Then drop down to secure the objective. Leave via creeping around to the north exit.

Remote Hack to the Mainframe

Move to the northeast area of the fence outside the restricted area. Drop in the RC Jumper, and weave it in through the gap where the dogs are penned, around the base of the radio tower building. Hop onto the pallets to remain hidden. Dart around the pallet to the objective, and hack. The tower hack requires the Quadcopter.

You can also use the voice command on the RC Jumper to coax foes out of the restricted area, ideally to the other side of the perimeter fence, to your waiting arms or a taser. It’s possible for other foes to see this and investigate without raising the alarm. You can continue to “pile up” the foes until you’ve neutralized most or all of them. Then lay an explosive on the pile afterward. You know, just to be sure.

The Maim Game

Taking out as many guards before mayhem occurs is the best plan, so creep onto the roof of the southeast warehouse. Lob in a bomb in one area and detonate it (using the cameras if it’s too far to do it visually). Start using rapid-fire weapons or your grenade launcher in another. Stand on the AC unit atop the warehouse to ensure your shots hit home. Sprint to the MRAP and use it to mow down stragglers.

After hacking the wall server unit and then using the drone to hack the radio tower directly above it, the operation concludes.
