Target (Being Hunted)
Your goal is to escape the police and enemy bounty hunters; there can be up to three. Earn bonus rewards for eliminating hunters. Use explosive devices to set deadly traps.
Takedowns: You get more rewards for taking down hunters. Stand your ground and try neutralizing your pursuers before escaping!
Feeling the Heat: In addition to entering high-heat conflicts with the police (you may become a target any time your Heat level is 3 out of 5 or greater), you can become a target directly by using the Multiplayer app on your phone: Select the Bounty activity. Select “Trigger a Bounty” option to become a target.
Hide, then Flee: With the Multiplayer app, you can go to an area that you’ve previously found advantageous to defend (with good scenery, narrow entrance gates you can use as choke points, and good escape routes you already know about). Trigger the bounty there, waiting for the hunters to come to you.
All the Trappings: Try defending the area with proximity-hacked explosives. During the attack, lure any hunters to these explosives. It’s also good to gain some height so you have a better line of sight, can use scoped weapons, and have more places to lob devices.
During an Escape: In addition, using proximity hacks on steam pipes is a great way to slow down your pursuers while escaping. But nothing beats a vehicle with a high top speed, especially one that can also go off-road without getting stuck. If you have the time, destroy any nearby vehicles from your hideout so enemies have farther to find vehicles (and the vehicles aren’t likely to be high-powered) while you zoom away in a fast car or bike you already parked in a safe place.
Target (Coop): You can also play the role of a “protector” if you’re partnered with the Target in this mode; do all you can (including self-sacrifice) to ensure your Target friend escapes!
Hunter
Your goal is to neutralize the escaping target. Get into a fast vehicle. Use vehicle hacking. Police are working alongside you. Rewards are shared with other hunters (human, online).
Who’s Who: As a hunter, the police will focus their attacks on the target and won’t be a threat to you. Other hunters are DedSec allies working alongside you. The rewards for winning as hunters are shared with all hunters.
Vehicular Hacking: When chasing a target, use vehicle hacking to slow them down. If other hunters are helping, wait for their vehicle hack to be over before using yours, maximizing the effect on the target.
Hello, Friend: You know a friend used a vehicle hack by the green Vehicle Hack icon on the victim of the hack.
Danger: Unstable Surfaces: When chasing a target, be wary of any proximity hacked steam pipes on the road and other surprises your foe might leave out behind!
Neutralizing a Hideout: When attacking a target who is defending a location, send in your Jumper (or better yet, your Quadcopter) to scout any defenses they might have laid out (like proximity hacked explosives). You can spot enemy proximity explosives in NetHack. Scan for them and use the Shutdown hack to disable them.
Death from Above: An upgrade to the Quadcopter lets you drop explosives from it, offering a powerful and safe way to flush the target out. Consider acquiring that ability.
