Watch Dogs 2 eGuide Training Part 7: Factions And Conflict

Enemy Reinforcement Calls

During an infiltration, you may encounter the dreaded “red triangle,” an icon that appears over an enemy’s head. A bar slowly fills in around the triangle as that foe calls for reinforcements. This is when you know your previous attempts at stealthy infiltrations have ended in failure.

Dealing with Shot-Callers: These enemies are known colloquially as “shot-callers” and can call reinforcements if you let them; and additional foes arrive within 10 seconds unless you cut off their communication with a melee takedown or a distract hack. Prevent this from happening in the first place by exercising stealth infiltrations. In addition, if you hack all of the enemies in a restricted area (using your smartphone, the Jumper, the security cameras, or the Quadcopter), any foe with the ability to call reinforcements has a red info bar, rather than a blue or gray one. Target those foes first, or remember where they are.

Remember, it’s easier to commandeer a restricted area by taking out the shot-callers first (via stealth, Quadcopter bombing, object proximity traps, or a host of other plans), then removing all other threats in whatever manner you wish, assuming there are no security systems or robots. Use this as an alternate strategy to stealth takedowns for everyone.

Reinforcements Arrival: If the call is completed, reinforcements arrive on site. If the restricted area is outside or near a street, expect two or more vehicles to reach one of the main gates and at least four additional foes to contend with. Depending on your Heat level, they could be regular foes or more well-armored types. Placing proximity traps and priming them at these gates can remove the threats before they disperse from their vehicles (as can device bombing them), but overzealous destruction usually ends in more reinforcements, greater Heat level, and chaos.

Another option is to lie low, seek hiding places, and use stealth and electroshock offense (your taser, devices, and WTB launcher) to neutralize enemies, permanently removing foes with suppressed weapons afterward, until everything quiets down.

Automated Alerts: Security systems (motion detectors and laser security fencing) can also call reinforcements and robots. Therefore, it’s in your best interest to deactivate these as proficiently as possible, by hacking them or in the case of motion detectors and lasers, shooting the hack point with your taser and temporarily disabling them. Also use NetHack when moving about to more easily see these security measures, so you don’t accidentally step into them.
