Brief

El Wey is on the run. Unidad wants him for the death of Lieutenant Bento, and El Sueño wants him for the loss of the miners and the pyrolusite labs. The buchon has no one to turn to except us. Search the Unidad base for intel on El Wey’s location and extract him.

No “Wey” Out

It’s a 2.4 kilometer distance between Villa Verde Bravo and Forward Operating Base Tucan, where El Wey’s location is to be found. Your objective is high on a jungle cliff top; you need to infiltrate the place, secure El Wey’s location from a laptop inside the F.O.B., and then capture him before the Unidad forces catch up to him. Once you bundle El Wey into your own vehicle, he needs extraction to Rally Point Villa Verde Bravo.

F.O.B. Tucan: Recon

Northwest: Entrance Road

With a minigun inside a firing post at the bottom end of this road, plus two additional foes at the entrance and two more behind the barricade to the left (east) of the threshold, heading down here is suicide in all but the most well-armored of vehicles. Use this route to escape, rather than a way in, if you’re thinking of using Unidad vehicles.

North: Hill Access

The preferred method of infiltrating the base is to head along the trail north of A, then cut down to the rocky outcrop overlooking the entire base. This is a good time to send up a drone. Then drop down, crossing the perimeter blocks and heading into the rear entrance of the hangar. Bring any foes down with melee strangles to maintain complete silence. Head to the laptop.

You can even escape up here by retracing your steps, though it’s usually easier to steal a truck or the attack helicopter before Unidad gets a precise location on your team.

F.O.B. Tucan: Recon

TACMAP

This is a tightly-guarded location with competent enemies, and little room to hide or maneuver, or escape from. Bristling with defenses, especially down the entrance road (there’s miniguns and Unidad aplenty here), a proficient plan involves heading into the hangar to reach the target laptop, via one of the minor openings in the perimeter wall. Most of the base is difficult to reach (involving steep hiking from obtuse angles), so air support is another possibility. Beware the HQ building to the southeast, on a hill with more problematic defenses. If you can avoid combat here, so much the better. Otherwise, perimeter sneaking from the north and assaulting via openings is a better bet than a rush through the muddy roads.

Southwest: Ravine Access

The deep ravine to the southwest of the camp can actually be climbed up, allowing you to reach the block wall between the firing post and the armory. From here you can sprint to the hangar while your team distracts, or start popping off shots to enemies at the aforementioned locations. If there’s no other option, you can even leap over here and scramble down the ravine to escape.

West: Gorge Access

After quite a hike along the trail to the northeast, you can climb up to this location, which is the only area of block perimeter on this side of the base (aside from B). Hop over here, to the container shed, or down to the armory, then to the hangar itself.

Southwest: HQ Building Access

Make even more of a hike to the southeast corner of the base perimeter, and you can hop over a concrete barrier, and stealthily tackle the enemies in and around the HQ building. This is helpful if you’re trying to remove all foes, you’re wanting to create a distraction, or want to head to the Comms building, then to steal the Unidad Buggy.

Target: Laptop (Hangar)

Unfortunately, this is rather close to the entrance, so you may wish to enter from the rear doorways (down from B), or create a distraction elsewhere in the base. Note the propane tank, various barrels (for distraction purposes), and the attack helicopter which would be great to pursue El Wey in!

F.O.B. Tucan: other tactical advice

Head in from B under cover of darkness, entering the hangar from the rear (north) doorway, attempting melee takedowns in silence of any foes you meet. Hack the laptop, and leave the way you came, with no mess, and no fuss. Or, have your team attack the HQ building at E, or the foes around the hangar while you access the laptop.

Another option is to send an explosive drone to the firing post to take out the minigun operator, then drive into the camp and create chaos. Park, rush the north (barracks) area of the camp, and with the higher ground, fan out and remove all remaining enemies. Snipe from the upper ground west of B, removing the foes behind the minigun nests near E. When few foes are left, head for the target.

Escape in a Unidad truck if you need to, or either of the two helicopters in this camp. Don’t forget to call Rebel Support if you’re in need of a distraction, extra men, or a vehicle to chase El Wey down in.

Solo plans are great plans, but with three additional humans, there’s an extra degree of tactical mastery available. A good plan is to head in from B (two Ghosts), E, and C. With the Ghost at E tackling a good number of the enemy; back him up with sniper fire from B, while the Ghost at C neutralizes the enemies around the hangar with the help of a second Ghost who came down from B. Don’t forget helicopters can help your side as well as Unidad’s; bring one into the fray, along with ground troops, to distract as well as pick up your team for the next part of the mission. Aim to leave this base in multiple vehicles (perhaps a chopper and buggy or truck, or two ground vehicles).

El Wey Or The Highway

El Wey can be found driving his pickup truck in the northwestern mountain roads of the province. Unlike the majority of the vehicle-based missions you may have completed in the past, this one requires a single vehicle you need to bring to a halt. It isn’t chaperoned by cartel vehicles, meaning that you don’t need to fire a single shot. One slight worry? You need El Wey alive! The other slight worry? Expect Unidad patrol vehicles to arrive moments after you attempt an ambush!

El Wey’s Truck

TACMAP

The pickup truck can be found on the roads to the northwest of the province. You’re rather far from this vehicle, so take a chopper from the Unidad base, or Fast Travel to Villa Verde Bravo, and call in a vehicle from Rebel Support. When you reach El Wey, engage the truck until he leaves the vehicle, or you drag him from it. Simple.

El Wey’s Truck: Other Tactical Advice

This gets a whole lot more simple if you ensure your ambush location isn’t near an enemy stronghold. You can stand on the road, wave down the truck with your guns pointed at El Wey, but he usually takes off, running you over in the process. However, you can grab him from his vehicle (this is possible, but difficult) when it is stopped. Or you can cause a traffic jam by stopping civilian vehicles. To slow the pickup down, shoot out all four tires as quickly as possible. You can also ram him off the road (in Co-op, each use a vehicle to pin him more quickly, and from multiple sides), or bash the truck until it catches fire. Or, you can all ride in an armored truck and ram the enemy vehicle while shooting at it (but not El Wey). When El Wey exits the vehicle, bundle him into a second vehicle and begin the extraction. Deal with Unidad by getting out of your vehicle once El Wey’s pickup has stopped (even if he’s trying to reverse). Shoot the Unidad driver and minigun operator immediately, or lob in a grenade and remove the immediate threats. It’s best to ignore the Unidad forces as much as possible, as the longer you take grabbing El Wey, the more Unidad reinforcements arrive. Mines along the road to the ambush point are reasonable, but you don’t want them destroying the vehicle instantly; which happens if there’s more than one.

In Co-op, split your time between teammates focusing on El Wey, and teammates focusing on neutralizing the Unidad vehicles giving chase. In Solo, order your team to engage Unidad while you stow El Wey in a handy vehicle; even a Unidad one you’ve commandeered after killing the occupants. Did you arrive here by helicopter? It may be tricky to land, grab El Wey, and bundle him into a chopper, so seek out flat land ahead along the route before ambushing. Or seek a vehicle to apprehend after ditching your chopper. In Co-op missions, having a chopper strafing the enemy helps during this extraction.

Extraction To Villa Verde Bravo

Once you’re free of the Unidad patrols at the point where you picked up El Wey, the rest of the journey to extract this buchon should be uneventful. Simply head toward Villa Verde Bravo, and deliver El Wey to a blow-torch-wielding Bowman. She’s going to make El Wey even prettier if this punk decides not to talk.
