Brief

The secret alliance between Unidad and Santa Blanca is extremely hazardous to both our operations and those of Katari’s rebels. We need to obtain intel that will help us drive a wedge between the anti-narcotics unit and the cartel.

Oh Captain, My Captain

Up in the northwest corner of the province is a small Unidad outpost bristling with weaponry (including a SAM site) and upwards of 16 additional foes inside the base, all well-armored, and including two snipers at the tower where the captain is located. You need to physically grab the captain, interrogate him, and then back away. And Unidad don’t play around.

Combat Outpost: Recon

TACMAP

For a small Unidad combat outpost, the sheer number of foes makes this mission among the most difficult you’ve encountered. The trick is actually getting to the captain, who remains atop the sniper tower, without the entirety of the Unidad forces and reinforcements—which you can’t combat indefinitely—overpowering you and taking you down. However, the outpost has a few buildings to take cover in, a large propane tank to the east for creating a distraction, and a roof helipad for a quick getaway.

South: SAM Site

If you want to utilize a helicopter, bring down the two foes in the scrub to the south of the road, who are manning the SAM launcher. This isn’t necessary (it’s more helpful during Co-op missions), as you can dodge incoming missiles, but the position is good if you’re trying to coax foes away from the sniper tower and want to create a little distraction (so in Solo, place teammates here while you sneak in elsewhere).

Center: Main Entrance

The entire base has an impenetrable perimeter, except at C. This means the only other way in (aside from flying) is through the main gates. Immediately on your right are a gas station and propane tank. There are explosive barrels dotted about, too. A charge in gets you killed, as does driving inside most unarmored vehicles. But once it all kicks off, one possible play is to use large trucks to block the entrance and mines to stop reinforcements from coming in, if you can get this done under enemy fire.

North: Train Tracks and Dumpster Entrance

The north tracks are elevated enough to allow you to drop the two snipers on the tower (stand first west than “C” indicates on this guide map) on either side of the captain without anyone else seeing exactly what’s going on (as long as you stay low and back away before you’re spotted). This neutralizes the main long-range foes in the base easily. Couple this with the tactic of sending your teammates to the SAM site or main entrance, and you can then sneak in via C and complete this mission.

The area at C itself is a small entrance in the otherwise impenetrable perimeter. Head around the outer fence, sneak in, and creep along the north side of the base and up the sniper tower. In order for you not to be discovered, attempt a variety of distractions (grenade, drone, teammates attacking the SAM site or entrance).

Target: Captain and Sniper Tower

If this captain ran away, he’d be much easier to interrogate! Alas, he remains atop this sniper tower, forcing you up to the top. The trick is to reach and grab him after you’ve shot both snipers, during the window of time you or your teammates have created by using a distraction elsewhere, and before the enemy sends in so many foes your squad can’t cope.

Try chatting under fire and you’ll be struck and killed. The mission ends when you finish interrogating the captain, after which you still need to leave the vicinity, which is likely to be under heavy fire. Flee via C, the helipad (assuming there’s a working helicopter), or to a vehicle and out the main entrance, depending on how bad the situation has gotten.

Combat Outpost: Tactical Advice

Approach from west of C, heading south from the scrubland north of the outpost. When you’re in position (able to see the target and snipers, but not foes down inside the base), send up your drone to tag everyone, and order your team to attack via A or B. Call in a few favors using Rebel Support, too (Guns for Hire and Distraction are both good choices). Drop both snipers atop the tower without being spotted. Enter via C, creep along the north perimeter, up the sniper steps, and grab the captain. Interrogate, and flee to the closest vehicle, the helipad, or out the way you came.

Or careen through the main entrance in an armored truck, or perhaps something a little thinner, driving it all the way to the foot of the sniper tower. While your team start mowing down foes inside the base, sprint up to the top of the tower and blast both snipers with a shotgun. Lob grenades down from here, and interrogate the captain when you get a chance.

The first Solo plan is a good one to try, with your teammates playing the role of distractors (have two distract and two storm the base from C in case one is tagged en route to the captain).
