Brief

Data obtained from M.O.B. Jaguar has revealed that a cartel informer has discovered the identities of CIA assets within Unidad. The informer will soon pass this information on to his handler. The informer must be eliminated to protect our agents in the field.

Pinning a Tail on the Mole

You’re here to kick ass and chew gum, and on this occasion, you’ve got a full pack of gum: Do not allow the Unidad enemy at this combat outpost to see you, as this fails the mission. You’re here primarily to recon the area in search of a Unidad captain. When he’s found, he must be tailed. Stay away from the enemy if at all possible.

Combat Outpost: Recon

TACMAP

The majority of the enemies at this river traffic control center are on the docks to the northeast. You need never encounter them; only concern yourself with the foes in and around the small fenced inner base, and the outer parking lot flanked by two sniper towers. These sharpshooters may be the first to see you, so position yourself out of their gaze (or try the most silent of sniped shots). Note the abundance of vehicles in the parking lot. These can be used to tail the captain, provided you can drive one off the lot without being seen.

West: Main Road to Sniper Tower

If you lurk by the railroad tracks with a silenced sniper rifle, you can tag the sniper here, though it’s not necessary. If you remain out of sight at a location like this, the enemy will search for you, so stay at range, out of sight, and drop more who come to investigate, until the captain leaves and can be tailed.

Northwest: Within Earshot

Maneuver here via the wooded area to the northwest, and wait for patrols to pass. Then sneak inside the base, using the block walls and other scenery as cover, before manually spotting the captain, backing out (ideally to a bike you rode here on), and following.

North: River Docks

Nope! Don’t approach from here. You’re not storming this area (and this is a terrible locale for doing so, anyway).

Southwest: Main Entrance

This is another terrible location. You’re easily spotted, and even driving at a leisurely pace by the security hut may get you noticed. Drive on the railroad tracks to ensure you avoid being seen when the tailing begins, and swerve back onto the road as you head south.

Southeast: Parking Lot Corner

This is a great location for hiding and checking the location of the captain. Send up a drone, as you’re quite safe (as long as you’re out of sniper sight). When the captain departs, you can choose a buggy or other fine Unidad vehicle to follow him in. Drive off-road onto the main road, rather than following the captain directly as he passes the security hut southeast of this location, as the foe in the hut can ruin your mission chances. Unless he’s previously (and silently) been executed!

Target: Unidad Captain and Armored Truck

The Unidad captain begins at the comms center, walks around or through the mess hall, out of the inner perimeter and into the parking lot, and drives off in the armored vehicle (pictured). Simply track his movements, and as soon as the objective updates, follow him in a vehicle of your own. As always, do not be seen by the enemy.

Combat Outpost: Tactical Advice

Move through the woods to the northwest, avoiding enemies until you reach B. This is a block perimeter, with a gap in the northeast wall. Beware of Unidad soldiers patrolling this area. You can sneak in through this wall gap, position yourself behind the captain so you identify him, then retreat the way you came. Come here on a bike so you can more easily tail him, but retreat back to B and around to A to avoid detection. This is the easiest physical way to complete the first objective, but there are much better plans:

Move to A, B, or E (the latter is optimal if you came on foot). Launch a drone up into the sky, as high as you can so it isn’t compromised, and simply watch the target as he sets up his meeting and gets into his vehicle. Ditch the drone and get into your vehicle (which you can stand next to while flying the drone) when the objective updates.

One novel way to get the Unidad captain to drive off is to prowl the extreme perimeter of the base, offing foes (like a sniper atop one of the towers) without being seen, using a suppressed sniper rifle. As soon as the enemies see a man of theirs downed, they start looking for you. Stay hidden. A few moments later, the captain leaves, and you can start tailing your foe. Expect problems with Unidad chasing you, though.

There aren’t really any benefits to having your whole team in the vicinity of this outpost, as the chances of one of you being spotted and failing the mission become much greater. Hang back and let one Ghost do the recon.

Or you could all encroach on the base and attempt to dispatch every single enemy silently (or at least the ones on the upper base area, rather than the docks). This is difficult, irresponsible, and one of you will need to break off to follow the captain.

Or have one Ghost head to the outpost while the other three set up position at the second location, Halcone House, the captain’s destination. Stay out of sight at this cartel safehouse, or the mission fails.

Keep on Tracking

Once the tail begins, remain away from any Unidad forces, because if they see you, the mission may fail. This includes the foe at the security hut south of E, as your quarry exits the combat outpost. From here, the captain heads south past Rocha, then a gasoline checkpoint. Wait until he passes this junction by the bridge so you can quickly drive past without Unidad forces seeing you. He then takes an immediate dirt trail to the right (west), drives to a right bend, heads north, and parks at a remote wooded location known as Halcone House.

Heads, Not Tails

As soon as the captain enters this small woodland compound, you are weapons-free. Simply neutralize all enemies in the vicinity.

Halcone House: Recon

TACMAP

This is a straightforward location. There are no foes hiding in any outhouses, just an armored enemy to be aware of. If you wait and watch, the cartel informer and the captain meet on the upper balcony of the building. Get in there and leave no one to compromise any CIA operatives in the field.

South: Main Road

The captain parks up here. Hang back so the meeting takes place. You can snipe both foes if you’re stealthy and can see them at the doorway of the upper-floor balcony. Block or trap this exit so the captain doesn’t steal a vehicle and flee.

West: Hills

Head here in Co-op only. Quickly hike up as the vehicle drives and parks, so you can offer covering fire to your teammates. There’s a good view of most of the area, though you’re stuck if the captain flees to his vehicle and you aren’t quick enough to stop him.

North: Outhouse and Fence

Head here in Co-op only. Striking from the rear of the property is great if you’re here to confuse foes and catch them in crossfire. Just be aware that the captain flees in the opposite direction.

East: Ravine

Head here in Co-op only. You have a view of the balcony on the east side of the residence, where a foe usually guards before you’re spotted. Creep around using the fence as cover. You can easily reach a vehicle to give chase if the captain escapes.

Target: Cartel Informer and Safehouse

The building has entrances on the south and east sides, interior stairs, and an exterior balcony around to the doorway (southwest corner).

This cartel informer is a lieutenant, and an easy takedown. The captain is a little tougher since he’s wearing armor, and tends to bolt for his armored vehicle and flee. Prevent this by stationing a Ghost near the vehicle, blocking the road, dropping mines, or placing two C4 charges on the vehicle itself. Or shooting the captain in the head.

Halcone House: Tactical Advice

Storm the building, keeping your team back at the gates so an escaping captain is neutralized before he reaches his vehicle. Check the two-floor house and remove all foes inside and out. Use weapons, projectiles, flashbangs, and anything else you like to get the job done. Or fly an explosive drone through the doorway to detonate and take out both targets, before moving on to the cartel members.

Be sure that armored truck the captain arrived in is destroyed if it looks like he’s about to make an escape.

After handing the responsibilities of booby-trapping the captain’s vehicle to one Ghost, the rest can either swim from A or split up and each approach from a different direction.
