Brief

Wagner’s given us El Pulpo’s cell number and the location of his hideout. We’ll have an agent call Pulpo, posing as one of Flores’ sicarios, and threaten his life. Pulpo’s sure to panic and make a run for the airport. Make sure he gets there alive.

Plane Sailing For El Pulpo

Head to the hideout where El Pulpo is staying, and remain out of sight until the cartel underboss finishes his phone call. He immediately heads to his vehicle, and drives it southeast, passing the Central Outpost and into the center of Barvechos itself. He then makes a sharp right turn, and after reaching the airport, swerves left and reaches the aircraft. Assuming you’ve protected him along the way.

Outpost (West) and Checkpoint: Recon

TACMAP

El Pulpo’s hideout is a couple of outbuildings in the far northwest corner of the province, guarded by a small checkpoint and rudimentary barricade farther up the dirt road to the Outpost itself. As remaining undetected is the key to mission completion, engaging the enemy before El Pulpo attempts to escape in his Landrock SUV is out of the question. Lower your weapons and ensure your vehicles are ready.

Checkpoint

There’s a captain, and a trio of idiots here, in two separate locations. Two of the foes are on a makeshift barrier between the checkpoint and hideout. Simply ignore these hostiles completely, as there’s no need to engage them (and risk mission failure) until El Pulpo departs.

Southeast Hill: Infiltration Point

You don’t need to sweep the north side of the hideout. This is where you should head in from; up the hill to the parking lot there are three suitable chase vehicles parked. Then simply sit in one of them until El Pulpo finishes his call, so you can follow him when he drives away as closely as possible.

Target: Outpost and Pulpo’s Hideout

This small hillside mechanic’s depot has a couple of scattered buildings, and a main structure where El Pulpo is receiving the phone call. He heads out to the Landrock SUV parked in the southeast corner of the location. Follow him as closely as possible.
Barvechos Airport

Located on the southern edge of the main town of this province, El Pulpo’s final destination before he takes off in a waiting chopper is this airport. Maintain your escort services and shield him from all enemy gunfire as he reaches the chopper. Once he’s away, simply retreat or attack any stragglers or reinforcements the cartel calls.

Outpost to Airport: Other Tactical Advice

Head into the hideout via B, sit in your favored military vehicle already parked in the hideout, and wait for El Pulpo’s SUV to head out. Follow it to the main road, running over foes, but don’t stop and engage the enemy; it wastes time and your target gets too far away. He isn’t shy about accelerating!

Now have your crew fire at any and every foe while you concentrate on driving as close to El Pulpo as possible, while blocking enemy vehicles from hitting the target vehicle. Intervene by swerving, but keep your speed up, passing by every enemy pickup, SUV, or truck parked on the way into town. Speed is of the essence. Periodically check your mini-map to see who’s pursuing you.

In the center of town, El Pulpo stops and makes a hard right (south) toward the airport. Simply stop, let him make the turn, and follow him into the airfield with a final sharp left (east) turn. Assuming you’ve arrived here in a military-grade vehicle and not a Bolivian sedan car, engage any further enemies on the airfield. Keep any pursuers in the main entrance area, and concentrate firepower on the helicopter attacking you. Break out a grenade launcher to quicken the fight if you need to. Then simply wait for El Pulpo to fly off in his chopper, constantly checking the area around the target in case a few infantry foes try to sneak in and kill the target. Disengage after the mission completes.

The exact same tactics work well in Co-op mode too, though you can split up into more vehicles. Two ground military SUVs makes the extraction easier, or a ground SUV and a chopper. It’s not worth having three or four vehicles active, as the additional firepower you have from your teammates shooting from a vehicle is more helpful at destroying enemy vehicles compared to ramming and shunting them.
