Assault Rifles

The bread and butter of all operatives, the assault rifle is chief among other weapons. While it can be a bit of a struggle to use one at close range, you’ll have little issue taking out targets at mid and long range with a good assault rifle in hands. While they don’t boast the highest of Damage stats, their versatility makes them invaluable amongst other weapons.

To get the most out an assault rifle, you’ll want to stay at mid-range from enemy combatants as much as possible. Slap a good scope on on the top and pull the trigger selectively. Accuracy and stability are what an assault rifle generally brings to the table, so you’ll want to take an elegant approach to combat situations by keeping your distance, staying behind cover, and carefully lining up your shots, instead of holding down the trigger and firing wildly.

P416

HOW TO UNLOCK: UNLOCKED FROM THE START OF THE GAME

Part of your starting kit, the P416 is reliable and sturdy, but doesn’t do much in the way of Damage. In the right hands it can help you stealthily dispatch an entire enemy base. In the wrong hands… Well, let’s just say drawing a lot of attention while using this weapon is not advisable.

HOW TO UNLOCK: FOUND IN P.N. DE AGUA VERDE

This assault rifle packs a punch. A good bit of damage and a high rate of fire make this gun a go to for anyone looking to take an enemy stronghold by storm. The downsides are limited Range and low Noise Reduction, even with a suppressor. Expect to draw a lot of attention when you’ve got this thing in hand.

HOW TO UNLOCK: FOUND IN CAIMANES

A solid assault rifle for frontal attacks, the 556xi has decent stats across the board and quality bullet Penetration. In terms of stealth there are much better options, but for a head-on fight the 556xi has you covered. Just make sure to add parts to increase the Handling; the climb on this weapon is pretty severe.

HOW TO UNLOCK: FOUND IN TABACAL

The AK-12 is a fairly middle of the road assault rifle if you’re going for a full-frontal assault, but if you’re looking for a new stealth option to replace the starting P416, then this is your gun. It surpasses the P416 in nearly every way with some notable Damage and bullet Penetration stats. A solid choice for sneaking.

A good all-around assault rifle. You’ll find balanced stats across the board with a notable Noise Reduction stat. This rifle will take care of you in a variety of situations, but take care to stagger your shots, instead of holding down the trigger. Despite it’s hefty Handling stat, this gun has a tendency to climb swiftly. If you aim at an enemy and hold the trigger, don’t expect to be shooting at that enemy for long.

G2

HOW TO UNLOCK: FOUND IN INCA CAMINA

The G2 is a fairly middle of the road assault rifle; it’s slightly behind most of its contemporaries in just about every stat, save for two: control and Rate of Fire. It’s Handling stat isn’t the highest, but in terms of muzzle climb, this gun is considerably stable, especially when you consider how high its Rate of Fire is. If recoil and muzzle climb are a big issue for you, then give the G2 a try. You can put out a lot of bullets in a short amount of time and do so while keeping you gun under control.

HOW TO UNLOCK: FOUND IN ESPIRITU SANTO

A very solid gun with stats that can stand with most other assault rifles. The L85A2 is particularly good when it comes to Accuracy and Range, making it a good distance rifle. You’ll want to either switch the fire mode to single-shot, or take care to feather the trigger. The muzzle climb and general Handling on this weapon is its weakness. If you hold down that trigger expect to be taken on a roller coaster of a firing angle.

HOW TO UNLOCK: FOUND IN MONTE PUNCU

The “Wild Child” of the assault rifle world, the R5 RGP packs a fair amount of punch, but at the cost of being nearly uncontrollable while holding the trigger. It has quality Noise Reduction, Damage, and Penetration, so consider a stealth approach when using this rifle. At close-range you’ll have little issue taking out enemy combatants, but doing more than just tapping the trigger will send this weapon soaring.

ACR

HOW TO UNLOCK: FOUND IN MEDIA LUNA

A good all-around weapon. It has quality stats across the board and is very controllable, even when holding the trigger. It will take a bit of getting use to the minor muzzle climb, but with some practice you’ll be able stay on target and keep this gun firmly under control. You can’t go wrong using the ACR if you’re more of a jack-of-all-trades.

AK-47

HOW TO UNLOCK: FOUND IN LIBERTAD

When it comes to doling out damage with an assault rifle, you’d be hard-pressed to find better than the AK-47. While it’s Accuracy and Handling are particularly low, it’s muzzle climb is very predictable; with some practice you can make the AK-47’s weakness a little more tenable. It should be noted that this is not a particularly good stealth weapon, at least in comparison to other assault rifles. If you like to go loud, then this is your assault rifle of choice.

HOW TO UNLOCK: FOUND IN FLOR DE ORO

As a counter to the AK-47, the M4A1 makes for a mean stealth assault rifle with upper-level Handling and high Noise Reduction. It’s Damage stat is middle of the road for an assault rifle, but when you’re sneaking around an F.O.B., headshots are your bread and butter. Strap a Suppressor on this gun and you’ve got a reliable option for quiet approaches.

Mk 17

HOW TO UNLOCK: FOUND IN FLOR DE ORO

The Mk 17 is an absolute powerhouse. While it’s not the best in terms of Noise Reduction, it’s Damage, Accuracy, and Range are some of the finest in the assault rifle game. Add to that bullet Penetration that rivals most other weapons, including sniper rifles, and you’ve got yourself a lean, mean killing machine. The drawback is the limited handling. Single-shot usage is fine, but anything more than that and the gun is nearly uncontrollable. Keep it light, keep it accurate, and this gun will serve you well.
