Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands Guide › Welcome to Bolivia › Barvechos: El Pulpo

Nidia’s Cash

Objectives

  • Locate Nidia Flores’ personal computer
  • Hack Nidia Flores’ personal computer

LOCATIONS

  • Outpost (North)

REWARDS

  • + 500 XP

Brief

Nidia lives in a palatial hacienda near the Santa Blanca headquarters in Barvechos. Locate her personal computer and use it to empty Flores’ bank accounts.

MISSION ACCESS

Complete Main Mission: El Pulpo’s Right-Hand Man, and acquire Major Intel in Barvechos Province to start this mission.

More Money, More Problems (For Nidia)

Drive toward Nidia’s Hacienda, but ignore the main compound building here, and use the compound’s roads to access the Outpost above (north of) the Hacienda. You’re here to find a laptop, hack it, and leave after the mission concludes. As long as you don’t attract unwanted attention to the south, this is straightforward.

Caution: No Hassle In The Hacienda

Despite your briefing, this mission doesn’t actually take place in the Hacienda itself. Though the properties are linked by a road, the north Outpost and Nidia Flores’ sprawling hacienda grounds should be treated as separate locations (and feature in separate missions). Concentrate all your recon on the compound of buildings further up the mountain, by the water tower.

Caution: An Alarm

The north Outpost has an alarm, but it’s farther down the hill to the south (A); cunningly positioned so you’ll overlook it. Make sure that doesn’t happen.

Most Recon: An Alarmed Lieutenant

The Outpost also features a Lieutenant who takes off in a vehicle when he sees shots being fired. He can be ignored or chased; attempt the latter and, when interrogated, he reveals the location of Nidia’s laptop. However, a simple search of the HQ building’s top floor produces the same results, making this lieutenant wrangling an optional plan.

Outpost (North): Recon

TACMAP:

This is a compact and reasonably open Outpost, with the majority of the buildings along the northwest, west, and southwestern sides. The target laptop is on the top (third) floor of the HQ building in the northwest area. Otherwise, expect just over a dozen foes. For better and safer results, ditch your vehicle and approach via any of the hiking trails to the east, north, and west of the compound; you have some excellent vantage points, especially to the north.

South: Alarm Pole

Before everything gets too messy and the enemy call in helicopters to thwart you, deactivate the alarm by shooting this pole. It’s south of the Outpost, between it and the Hacienda. This is one good reason for using the main road.

South: Base Entrance

The lip of the plateau the outpost sits on means you can actually use the rock outcrops on the north side of the road as cover, and advance into the base while still maintaining stealth and dropping foes at the front (south) entrance, which is completely open. Doing this at night time is preferable.

West: Perimeter

Buildings are clustered more densely on this side of the outpost, and the rudimentary fence is easily navigated around. Just watch for the lieutenant in the southwest corner of the outpost, and a foe or two around the building to the west of the HQ structure. This is a good infiltration spot as you’re able to hide while moving to the target building.

NORTH: WATER TOWER OUTCROP

This is the preferred spot from which to begin this mission. Use the hiking trails or a helicopter to head down here from the north, using the water tower as a landscape marker. Then crouch by the low wall overlooking the base and tag all the foes in the open. You can whittle down the base’s population by 60 percent, before moving in to remove the rest.

Should the lieutenant try to escape and you’re here, lob a grenade at the vehicles so he can’t use them, and rattle off some bullets at his feet so he surrenders. Don’t shoot him though; that’s mission failure!

East: The Patio and Deck

East of the helipad is an open area with some patio furniture and a deck with a view. This isn’t a great location to storm in from, as the ground is rough, and you’re exposed, though dropping down from the northeast and using the lone building in the northeast corner is a good plan.

Target: Laptop (Third Floor, HQ Building)

Getting to the laptop means infiltrating the building with the captain and an armored foe, along with two or three other enemies. You can remove them from D, or assault the building. It’s important to know the entrances: a south wall doorway, a north wall doorway, and a window on the west wall you can shoot out. Then scale the interior, and hack the laptop in Nidia’s office. It only takes a couple of seconds. After the mission concludes, pick a vehicle or the chopper to escape in, if you haven’t brought your own.

Outpost (North): Other Tactical Advice

Drive up via the hacienda road, stopping at A to shoot the panel out at the alarm pole (with suppressed fire). Then loop around the Outpost to D, crouch behind the low stone wall in front of the water tower, and start sniping. Keep this up until only a handful of foes are left. Station your team at B to stop the lieutenant escaping (if you wish, though shooting near him forces him to give up when he tries to escape). Then mop up any stragglers, and hack the laptop.

You could drop on the roof of the HQ building via parachute or a chopper crash, hack the laptop and fight down from the roof, or flee to one of the nearby cars and drive off, but that’s more dangerous.

Grenades and C4 lobbed in close proximity to groups of foes, inside the tight confines of some of the buildings, and flash-bang grenades as you make the final assault, are all helpful. A drone carrying explosives can also remove the more troublesome threats, such as the captain, armored foes, or groups of enemies close together.

This mission can also be completed by sneaking into the HQ building and up to the laptop without firing a shot. After hacking the laptop, the quickest way out is to smash the window on the east wall, leap through and down to the lower balcony, and down to the helipad.

Variations on the Solo plan are just as relevant here, though having a Ghost at C and E to push into the base means the enemy stands even less of a chance. Have one Ghost roving to act as a chaser for stopping the lieutenant, as well as getaway driver (or pilot) for extraction duties.
