Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands eGuide The Factions

Unidad Forces

ENEMY FACTIONs

Part of the Bolivian army, Unidad maintains order, tolerating the cartel as long as they don’t fight.

The new president of Bolivia created a special operations division, La Unidad (Unidad de Lucha Contra el Narcotraficó), to combat an ongoing drug epidemic. This brought on bloody clashes between Unidad and the Santa Blanca Cartel. General Baro, the General of Unidad, came to an agreement with the cartel—if the fighting comes to a stop, they can continue their drug operations unimpeded.

Unidad Patrol Level

Once a Unidad troop detects and engages the player, the Unidad Patrol Level, signified by four inverted chevrons in the upper-right corner of the HUD, is raised to level 1. This continues to rise as the fight heats up. The higher the level, the deadlier its forces are. Keep a low profile until the level is reset.

Troops

Find Unidad Forces at Unidad bases, outposts, and checkpoints. Unidad patrols, including helicopters, may show up anywhere, so heed audible warnings and glance at the radar often. The troops tend to be better equipped than their cartel counterparts.

Unidad call in reinforcements as soon as they perceive that they are being overwhelmed. Extra troops, AMVs, choppers equipped with rockets… you name it!

Unidad troops share a similar archetype structure as the cartel, except there are no regular Managers to harass. Note that named lieutenants must still be interrogated during the story.

General Baro

The general of La Unidad handles the logistics of allowing the Santa Blanca Cartel to produce/smuggle cocaine as long as the extreme violence comes to an end and the drugs are sent outside of Bolivia. With long ties to the land, the general is a longtime friend of El Yayo and the Bolivian Cartels.

Soldier (Rifleman)

Damage: 3.00

Armor: 3.00

Grenades: Yes

Range: Medium

Mobility: Medium

Weapon: R5 RGP Assault Rifle

Unidad Riflemen are far better equipped than their cartel counterparts. This means better armor and better weapons, which means nothing good for you…

Sniper

Damage: 6.00

Armor: 1.00

Grenades: Yes

Range: High

Mobility: Low

Weapon: MSR Sniper Rifle

Equipped with the best weapon and camouflage technically available, the Unidad Snipers are a huge threat. They tend to be found in towers, acting as spotters and long-range threats for Unidad bases, but be careful as they also patrol the world—blending well into the surrounding vegetation.

The Sniper’s scope shines in the light, cluing the player in on an imminent shot. The light gets stronger until the weapon is fired, so take advantage of this opportunity to get out of the way.

Snipers should always be the first priority whenever entering enemy territory. Dispose of them with Sync Shots to avoid bodies being spotted by other snipers.

Heavy Gunner

Damage: 4.00

Armor: 5.00

Grenades: No

Range: Medium

Mobility: Low

Weapon: Mk249 Light Machine Gun

Equipped with a Light Machine Gun and strong armor plating, Heavy Gunners lumber toward the player, sporadically firing long bursts from their powerful light machine gun. They are extremely lethal, causing huge damage, so it is a good idea to avoid their aim. Make these guys a priority among the ground troops. When assaulting a base, distract the guy and take him out from the flank. If available, blind him with a Flashbang to avoid his wrath.

Veteran

Damage: 4.00

Armor: 3.00

Grenades : Yes

Range: Medium

Mobility: Medium

Weapon: Vector .45 ACP Submachine Gun

Every army needs their ranked officers and these Unidad captains are no joke—boosting the morale of their men and giving the proper orders to find and kill you. They often flank their opponent. Killing the Veteran gives a higher chance for his men to surrender. Prioritize the Veteran above regular soldiers to improve your odds of success.

Unidad Vehicles

As part of the Bolivian military, La Unidad’s vehicle fleet holds some extremely powerful automobiles, boats, and aircraft. There are some great options for entering their base, whether attempting a stealth run or assault.

The following vehicles can be used, at least temporarily, to fool Unidad soldiers.

4x4s

Unidad drives two versions of their 4x4: a small, open vehicle that is great for off-road driving and a bigger, armored version equipped with a minigun. The latter is a much better option when sneaking into their base.

AMVs

The AMV is a great choice for off-roading and it is equipped with a gunner position. It is a fun drive worthy of most occasions.

APCs

Unidad uses an armored personnel carrier similar to the cartel’s APC. Hop into the gunner seat and press the Fire button to shoot its cannons when assaulting the enemy.

Armored SUV

The Unidad’s SUV option is a beastly, Armored SUV. It is strong enough to handle an assault and comes equipped with a minigun at the gunner position.

Buggy

The Buggy is Unidad’s default patrol vehicle. It only holds two, but it is a blast to drive—both on the road and off.

Trucks

In the truck department, Unidad possesses a crew cab pickup, flatbed, transport, and more. The former is a decent choice for transporting the team around, but there are better options.

Helicopters

Similar to the cartel, Unidad has the same selection of recon and support helicopters, which can be equipped with a Gatling gun or rockets. While the recon helicopter is small in size, allowing for more agile maneuvers, the support helicopter possesses dual miniguns for the passengers. The bigger aircraft can even withstand a shot from a SAM Launcher, so take advantage of it whenever possible.

Boats

The Unidad’s boat has a gunner position at its bow, allowing the player to spray bullets while crossing the waterways.

Gunship

The Gunship only offers seating for two, but it is an extremely powerful option for the duo. One player hops in the front seat and mans the powerful minigun, while the second sits behind the gunner and drives the aircraft. Depending on the model, the pilot has control of dual Gatling guns, missile launchers, or no weapon at all.
