Certain attacks can deal significantly more damage when hit at specific frames of the move’s active period, and/or specific areas of the hitbox. This is usually easy to specify: the move’s peak damage is early during active or late; the best place to hit is either at the tip of the range or up close. Most examples are like this. Moves with sweet spots are occasionally called “tipper” attacks, particularly when referring to sword-wielding fighters. But sweet-spot locations vary, sometimes located within the inner portion of an attack as opposed to the tip. Move damage listed in fighter chapters is based on sweet-spot hits, if applicable, and sweet-spot location or timing is listed in notes.
