Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Guide › Sheik

Overview

Sheik is the quintessential assassin. She’s equipped with lightning-fast attacks, outstanding ground speed, and incredible aerial mobility. Her neutral game (the phase in which no combatant has a distinct stage advantage) is one of the best, thanks to her amazingly safe combo-starting ground-based pokes and aerial attacks. Sheik can overwhelm her enemies’ attacks, almost with impunity.

Sheik has a high skill ceiling, with combo potential being essentially limitless; the more experience you have with her and the better you are at adapting to enemy shuffling and damage percentages, the stronger your combo game becomes.

Not only is Sheik incredibly quick, but her versatile toolkit allows her to be played in a number of ways. She can fight in a bait-and-punish weaving-in-and-out style of play with forward air, side tilt, and down tilt; or she can pressure foes from afar with her Needle Storm and Burst Grenade, forcing them into making positioning errors.

Sheik’s mobility options include wall-clinging (by holding control stick against the wall) for up to three full seconds, and low-profile crawling (by holding down-left and down-right). Thanks to her Vanish ability, she also has powerful recovery techniques not available to most of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate cast that allow her to safely grab on to ledges from below platforms while skipping the usual windows of vulnerability.

While Sheik’s array of attacks deal low damage on their own, this weakness can be considered an advantage; low damage equates to low knock-up and knockback, which equates to better comboability, which then translates into more stage control and more potential knockout opportunities.
