Robin has access to a plethora of incredible attacks and spells, generally much more powerful than other fighters’ abilities. However, his power advantages come at a price: their uses are limited.
At the beginning of a match, Robin is equipped with the Bronze Sword and full Tome Gauges, with the Levin Sword becoming accessible as time passes (after 10 seconds). For most air attacks and for all of his smash attacks, the Levin Sword provides extra range, damage, and other noticeable advantages over the Bronze Sword.
Robin’s overall game plan is to zone out enemies with intelligent use of his ranged spells in order to level and store his Thunder spell. Once he gains space, either by connecting with Arcfire or knocking away enemies with his powerful Levin Sword attacks, he can begin charging up his neutral special, granting him access to Arcthunder and Thoron. When applied properly, Arcthunder provides effective offensive setups thanks to its hit effects and area coverage.
Like most power-up strategies, you’ll want to optimize your attack sequences by always considering your charge time. You must also be particularly attentive to your opponent’s offense, since your defensive options are limited (you only have a certain amount of Elwind recovery attempts), and foes are likely to rush you while you’re trying to charge.
