Like every Smash game since Super Smash Bros. Melee, there are variations of a “multi-man mode.” There are three ways to face off against tremendous amounts of foes, all amounting to variations of a survival mode. In Century Smash, you’ll fight a seemingly endless army of Mii Fighters. All-Star Smash is back from Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/WiiU, leading you through a gauntlet of every Smash fighter, now greatly bolstered with the roster additions of Ultimate! Finally, Cruel Smash is what it sounds like: a brutal challenge against waves of powered-up foes.
Aside from the fun of going against dozens and dozens of fighters in a row, and the usefulness of being forced to get better at shielding and dodging attacks, there are also a bunch of Challenges tied to playing Mob Smash battles alone. (Check out the Games & More section of the Challenges chapter for details.)
