Super Smash Bros. Ultimate eGuide Corrin

Overview

Like most of the sword-wielding Fire Emblem fighters, Corrin enjoys the benefits of having hitboxes that stretch away from his body with huge range. Corrin’s unique dragon form allows him to transform his limbs into various dragon attacks, such as converting his arm into a Dragon Fang—a spear-like weapon with incredible range. Though most fighters who benefit from far-reaching normal attacks are encumbered with slow start-up speeds, many of Corrin’s attacks start relatively quickly, particularly his neutral attack and tilt attacks. Also, many of his attacks afford him combo opportunities, even at low percentages.

Corrin’s combat style is similar to that of Ike and Marth, except slightly faster in terms of attack speed start-up while still having access to deadly long-range pokes and spacing tools (including a projectile!).

Further exemplifying his well-rounded arsenal is Corrin’s up special recovery. It’s fairly flexible in its mobility, doubling as a semi-intangible anti-air attack and a ledge-recovery tool with variable trajectory.

Corrin isn’t without his weaknesses, most of which stem from his lower-than-average ground speed and his ground attacks being punishable at close range. His Dragon Fang Shot leaves him particularly vulnerable, along with his various smash attacks. Additionally, his grab range is lackluster, with most of his throw follow-ups not providing much in terms of advantage.
