Refers to skipping over portions of actions or attacks. This might involve canned canceling actions, like tapping Attack twice quickly to cancel neutral attack 1 into neutral attack 2. It can also refer to canceling different kinds of actions into each other, like dashing into a non-dash attack (dash-canceling) or tapping down just after a neutral attack to briefly crouch, allowing another starting neutral attack or a grab attempt (jab-canceling). It may refer to canceling periods of time. An air move might have lots of ending lag in midair, while not adding much landing lag if used near the ground; intentionally using such a move at low altitude in effect cancels its usual lengthy midair lag.
