Using front throw and back throw on high-damage victims is an attempt to hurl them into side blast zones, while going for up throw combos into up air attack (and so forth) is an attempt to catapult them high enough for the blast zone above. Punting someone off the stage, then successfully edge-guarding against their recovery leads to them plummeting to the blast zone below.
