Range and reach are used interchangeably to describe the distance covered by an attack. It’s frequently preceded by an attack-as-adjective, such as “jab range” (a fighter’s reach with their neutral attack).
Fighters who wield weapons (like swords) usually have terrific reach on their tilt and smash attacks. Long-reaching attacks are doubly good because they’re usually disjointed—they don’t extend vulnerable hurtboxes alongside—making them basically invincible if well-spaced.
