Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Guide › Captain Falcon

Overview

Captain Falcon is an incredibly strong fighter with unconventional movement for someone of his size and weight. He has one of the fastest running speeds in the game, allowing him to weave in and out of combat, as well as a quick jump and fast fall trajectory that bolster his up air attack juggle game.

He has high-damage combos, particularly in his neutral air attack and up air “loops” (using the same attack back-to-back, racking up the combo and damage counter).

He has a remarkable ground game thanks to his dash speed and grab damage. Falcon’s foes always need to have their guard up if they’re going toe-to-toe with him on the ground. If they let him dash in, they have to worry about eating a down throw that leads into multiple neutral air attacks that carry them off the stage, potentially resulting in losing a stock as they’re knocked into a blast zone.

Not only does Falcon have an effective ground game, but his up air attack is one of the best, especially on platform levels like Battlefield where he can manipulate his landing time to overwhelm airborne foes with up air offense and loop combos.

He’s not too bad on defense, either. If he’s knocked offstage, he has two recovery specials that help him recover. One of them is an aerial grab attack that can punish shielding edge-guarding foes. But these special moves can be a bit predictable and linear, so astute and quick-witted opponents may be able to read them and punish their laggy landing windows.
