Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Guide › Greninja

Overview

Greninja is speedy and aggressive pixie-type brawler. As expected of a ninja, it’s extremely agile. It has incredibly fast walk speed, a quick dash, a high-reaching jump and double jump, and the ability to both cling to walls and jump off of them. And its standing animation is shorter than most fighters of its height as it slinks down ninja-style.

Greninja’s attacks and overall toolkit reflect its ninja combat style—lightning-fast, designed for assassin-like hit-and-run tactics. With its fast ground mobility and Water Shuriken neutral special, Greninja can dominate the horizontal platform space against slower foes, dancing around them.

Greninja’s fast-falling ability is astounding, making its vertical game just as fearsome as its horizontal game. By quickly traversing and attacking with high jumps, fast-falling air attacks, and fake-out fast falls into grabs, Greninja can keep its enemies on their toes.

While Greninja’s air attack hitboxes are lacking compared to many other fighters’, Greninja makes up for it with remarkable air mobility.

Greninja’s main weakness is that it can be difficult to use all of its strengths optimally, particularly because damage can be lackluster. Most of Greninja’s potential damage comes from various setups and combos, but they can be difficult to pull off reliably. Greninja is so fast that it may feel unwieldy to control for novices!
