Super Smash Bros. Ultimate eGuide Ken

Overview

Ken Masters has specialized mechanics that faithfully represent the in-depth combat of Street Fighter IV. Like Ryu, Ken is equipped with a vast range of attacks, many of which have varying strengths depending on how the moves are executed.

In terms of weight, Ken lands at the heavier side of the spectrum. While he’s susceptible to certain juggle combos, he resists KO launchers better than most. He has an average max run compared to the rest of the cast, so he can readily approach with most of his ground-based light attacks.

Most of Ken’s move arsenal from the SF series carries over to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and is applied in his game plan similarly. A straightforward and effective strategy is to fire off a slow-moving Hadoken from range to use as cover for your engagement, then proceed with an aggressive jump-in attempt. Opening up foes lets you score high-damage combos that end in Ken’s signature fiery Shoryuken uppercut.

Ken can perform several recognizable Street Fighter combos. They’re especially powerful against grounded foes, allowing chained light attacks hit-confirmed into stronger finishers. In other words, you can poke with quick and safe attacks, committing to your high-damage combo-ender only if you’ve verified the hits. The following are sample practical combos you can do:
