Prep: Boost Your Darkness Resistance
Many of this boss’s attacks are Dark type, so raise your resistance with Amethyst accessories or the Blue Cape that you can win as a poker prize. Ludger, Milla, and Rowen can all further boost their Dark resistance with Rune Coat. The boss’s weakness is Light, so field party members that can take advantage of that. The Dark Guard skill that Ludger, Elize, and Muzét can learn is also very useful here.
Tactics: Strike at the Boss with Light
This boss can perform a counterattack that knocks all the characters around him away and stuns them while he teleports to safety. This is a very dangerous attack, so it’s important to head it off by attacking with combos that will hit its weak points. Attack the foe with Light-type attacks or Power Charge 2/3-fueled attacks to start a combo, and hit its weakness at least six times for a knockdown. Ludger’s arcane arte Moonlight Assault is Light-type, and its kick part of the assault has a good chance of hitting the boss’s head, so make good use of it.
Knockdown: Hit Its Weakness at Least Six Consecutive Times
You can knock down the boss with a combo that hits its weakness at least six times (nine times in EX mode, followed by a Linked Arte). Make sure not to give the boss an opening during your combo; it will use its teleportation counterattack to knock your party away and flee.
Attacks to Watch Out For
Dark Soul: Sends blades of darkness flying forward. Raise your dark resistance to reduce the damage.
Lunge: After briefly charging up power, the boss lunges. This isn’t a Dark-type attack, so make sure to guard.
EX: Use Weakness-Exploiting Combos with a Variety of Elements

As in the first fight, you’ll want to raise your Dark resistance and use weakness-exploiting attacks to head off the boss’s counterattacks. However, in EX mode, after you hit the boss’s weak point or elemental weaknesses, it will immediately counterattack. For that reason, in order to continue a weakness-exploiting combo, you need to have your party members hit the boss with attacks of different elements simultaneously, or use artes that attack with a variety of elements. Using Ludger’s Rapid Burst after Power Charge 3 works very well!
