Making Tough Choices

Go to Trigleph and enter your apartment on the third floor. Julius has left a note on the table that explains a lot of the story, and reading it will officially begin the chapter. There are a lot of tough choices to make in this chapter, but the first one won’t affect the outcome very much.

Before you go to Marksburg to meet Julius, save your game and prepare for a battle! As soon as you get near Julius, an important confrontation will begin.

The choices here are critical, but to avoid giving away too much, these are just the sequences and their outcomes. If you want to watch the “bad ending” choose ALL the R1 options.

Beware of the Enemy’s Over Limit

Julius has many of the same deadly artes as his brother and some cause very problematic aliments. For example, Moonlight Assault is a Light-type arcane arte with a wide area of effect. If you get hit, you can become confused and won’t be able to use items to cure it, so head it off with a Syrup Bottle instead.

When Julius enters Over Limit, he can unleash a powerful mystic arte, Ritual of Devastation, that always leaves you with 1 HP if it connects. If you’re unable to avoid it, immediately dash away and use a Lemon Gel! The best approach to deal with this situation is simply to stay far away during his Over Limit or make sure he can’t land it by transforming yourself.

You’ll fight Julius in a one-on-one battle. That means you’ll have to handle all the healing yourself, and since Julius is so powerful, you’ll need to be very diligent about healing any lost HP or the fight will be over before you realize it. Catching the confusion or bleeding ailment could be devastating, so make sure you always have a Syrup Bottle active.

Don’t get into a war of attrition—guard and counter with a combo! Julius has several weaknesses, and if you can chain together several artes, especially with a pop-up attack, you should be able juggle him for lots of damage. Another way to make your hits really count is to charge up Power Charge 3 before you attack.

Julius doesn’t have too much HP, so if you can begin this battle with a full gauge, you can transform right away. Deal as much damage as possible in that state and finish with your mystic arte for big damage!
