Prep: Alvin’s Breaker Is Effective
This boss is a prolific blocker, so Alvin’s Breaker ability comes in very handy. Even better, stunning the foe with a successful guard break provides an additional chance to attack. Since the boss is weak to Water, Rowen is worth using for his Splash arte. The boss does not have a very strong Iron Stance, so if you gang up on him, you should be able to stagger him easily.
Double-Team Your Foe with Alvin
Link with Alvin at the start of the fight, and set his strategy to Act Together—Alvin will attack your foe from the foe’s opposite side. The boss can’t hit behind himself effectively, so attack from behind is very safe. Attack continuously with your dual blades, and just keep on attacking even if he guards, trusting Alvin to break it. However, the boss can hit multiple targets for heavy damage with its Giant Press attack; when you see the red ! appear above it, immediately quit attacking and flee to a safe distance.
Knockdown: Attack After a Failed Giant Press
If the boss fails to hit any targets with its Giant Press attack, it will fall down for 3–4 seconds. Hit it while it’s down for a full knockdown and a longer opportunity to attack. (In the EX battle you need to hit it with a Linked Arte.)
Attacks to Watch Out For
Giant Press: An arte in which the boss leaps up to smash down on foes. While it’s preparing the attack, use the opportunity to circle behind or beside it, or start guarding.
Assault Claw: A flurry of forward slashing claw attacks. Back-step away and put some distance between you and the boss to avoid it.

As in the first battle, you’ll want to link with Alvin to attack from behind. Ideally, you should play as Jude, using his Aqua Sweep arte to attack the enemy’s weakness for knockdowns. Once it’s knocked down, use Shattering Demon Fist with the Down Burst and Down Rush skills to deal heavy damage. Jude’s Snap Pivot is also useful for getting behind the boss. Alvin’s Breaker can be just as effective in this fight as it was the first time.
