Using Over Limit

When you fill the fifth area of the Linked Artes Gauge, you’ll temporarily enter Over Limit.

Over Limit Properties
  • Over Limit lasts 10 seconds, but skills and time-related bonuses with your linked partner can extend it.
  • You can’t get staggered while in Over Limit and actions do not consume AC or TP.
  • You can use Linked Artes at the cost of one Linked Artes Gauge region.
  • You can use Linked Artes chains.
  • If you know the right skill, you can use mystic artes and linked mystic artes.
  • Your linked partner gains all of the above bonuses as well.

Finish Your Over Limit with a Mystic Arte

If you set the Special skill, you can perform a mystic arte during Over Limit. Mystic artes are attacks that always hit and deal large amounts of type-less damage.

Additionally, the Special Linked Artes skill lets you perform linked mystic artes with a character with which you have a high enough level of affinity, and Jude and Milla can use a special linked mystic arte with the Special skill.

  • If the player character has the Special skill set, you can press and hold during a Linked Arte in Over Limit to perform a mystic arte.
  • If your partner also has the Special skill set, press and hold + to perform the partner’s mystic arte.
  • If you have the skills Special and Single Artes set, during an Over Limit you can hold after performing an arcane arte to perform a mystic arte. Note that this won’t work if the arcane arte was blocked or missed.
  • If Ludger and his partner both have the Special skill equipped, press and hold during a Linked Arte performed during Over Limit to perform a linked mystic arte with Ludger. You can also do this if you’re playing as a character with those skills set and are linked with Ludger as your partner.
  • Milla and Jude can do a linked mystic arte together if both have the Special skill equipped.
  • Performing any mystic arte will end Over Limit.
