These optional quests can be found at the Job Bulletin board and are the best way to earn points and gald! However, you must prepare properly for each battle or it will be overly difficult, if not impossible. Each of these beasts appears in the same location before and after completing the game and their appearance is based on the completion of the main chapters. The rewards are well worth the time to tackle these challenging foes. If you are having a lot of trouble, make sure you are using the right protective items and artes, and that you have leveled up enough.
People in the surrounding towns of these massive monsters will provide some clues to a monster’s vulnerability, but we’ve gone several levels deeper with complete prep and tactics to take them down. These unique creatures have a specific “defect” that provides the opportunity to achieve a special knockdown. If you can perform the required combo chain or technique to achieve this knockdown, you can deal three times the damage!
Elite Monster Features
- Perform a specific combo or technique to earn a special knockdown in which the monsters become to weak to all damage types.
- After beating the game, the defeated monsters respawn as more powerful versions in the same places (EX).
- EX Elite Monsters have significantly higher stats and you need to be around level 90 before you take on the challenge. The rewards for defeating these very tough monsters are boosted as compensation for the added difficulty.
- You can run away from these battles if you want. Just leave the area and come back to make the monster respawn.
- Once defeated, the same Elite Monsters will not re-spawn.
- Any Elite Monster that had not been dealt with before finishing the game will be replaced with the EX Elite Monster once the original one has been defeated.
