Prep: Form a Party That Can Attack with Artes and Strike Damage
This boss resists shot and slash damage, so add strike specialists Jude and Leia to your party. Your final party member should be Muzét, as her Support Warp ability is very valuable here. The boss is weak to Light, so another option would be replacing Jude or Leia with Rowen, who can use the Light arte Shimmering Toll. Another arte that makes sense is the Light arte Divine Streak, which has a wide area of effect, making it easy to hit with.
Tactics: Move in Close to Attack
All of the boss’s attacks have a long reach, but the boss will rarely bother to hunt down distant targets. Use Muzét’s Support Warp to get to the very edge of the battlefield and charge up Power Charge 3. Then, front-step in between enemy attacks, and begin using a weakness-exploiting combo. More than five consecutive hits will earn you a knockdown, and once you’ve finished exploiting it, back-step away to the edge of the battlefield and repeat the process.
Knockdown: Hits Its Weakness at Least Five Consecutive Times
You can knock down the boss with a combo that hits its weakness at least five times (nine times in EX mode, followed by a Linked Arte). Its weakness is Light, and attacks from Light sources will stagger the foe, giving Ludger time to change weapons within the combo.
Attacks to Watch Out For
Frozen Powder: This attack can inflict Skillseal and Petrify on its targets, so immediately flee as soon as the enemy spreads its wings.
Mass Devour: The boss lunges at foes in front of it for heavy damage. It can’t hit targets to its side or behind it.
EX: Use Arcane Artes to Finish Your Weakness-Exploiting Combo

You can use the same basic strategy against the boss in EX mode. However, you now need to hit its weakness nine times and then with a Linked Arte to get a knockdown. If your Linked Arte gauge isn’t full, end your nine-hit combo with a powerful arcane arte like Endless Waltz or Freezing Eruption. If you use an arcane arte after a combo of at least three moves, its damage will double.
