Kijara Seafalls Fractured
Find the Catalyst
You appear at Kijara Seafalls when you enter the Fractured Dimension, and luckily there is a Peddler nearby to refresh your items. The enemies are the same as your last visit and shouldn’t put up much of a fight. However, avoid getting overzealous in fighting the monsters and save your resources for the upcoming boss. There are a few items to find in this new world and the armor will be a great upgrade for Muzét.
Make your way to the end of the first area to encounter Julius humming a familiar tune. This is your chance to boost affinity with your brother and Elle, so pay close attention to your choices.
I guess it worked.

Why do you keep Elle around anyway?

Beware the Boss’s Special “Curse” Ailment
In addition to breath attacks and horn strikes that make use of the boss’s enormous size, it can use artes like Curse. This inflicts a special ailment that causes you to take damage and be staggered at regular intervals. Guarding won’t protect you from this ailment and no item can cure it, but transforming will erase it from the entire party.
The massive size of this creature is further compounded by its very long reach. Spin Thrust is a powerful combo attack in which the boss spreads outs its arms and lunges forward. It has a very wide area of effect and it’s difficult to get out of the way in time, so start blocking as soon as the attack’s name appears on screen.
|
|
What’ll you do?
|
The other ranged attack of this boss is the Dark Laser. This is a deadly beam assault. If you’re in the beam’s path, you’ll take heavy damage even if you’re guarding. Because of this attack, try to circle around or beside the boss and avoid fighting it head on.
Many of this boss’s attacks have such wide areas of effect that you won’t be able to free run away in time. You generally want to guard, but Curse could lead you to be unable to guard from highly damaging attacks, so assign Elize’s strategy to Only Heal. This boss’s only weakness is fire, so have Ludger equip Zeus Crusher (Fire) if he has it or use fire-based artes. Also set up Muzét to use fire-based abilities like Flame Ring and you’ll be able to achieve weakness-exploiting combos fairly easily.
At the end of the fight, follow the instructions to perform your first mystic arte and finish off the catalyst.
Worried about your brother, I take it?

Vary Your Attacks to Succeed
You’ll encounter enemies who are weak to each of the three damage types: Slash, Strike, and Shot. By using Ludger’s Weapon Shift to switch weapons as you fight, you can deal damage more effectively. But beware of the Floral Scent attack used by Skunky enemies. This attack is unblockable, so if you see the Skunky prepare to lift its legs, evade with a quick-step.
In the Central Region, go to the northwest corner and look for a hole to crawl into and find Sir Meows-a-Lot the cat.

Xian Du is a large town with lots of shops and cats to locate. It is also the home of the Coliseum, where you can battle to earn useful and unique prizes. Initially you can only access Tag Mode, but as you continue to play you will unlock Party Mode and different challenge levels. Check out the Coliseum section in the Side Quest chapter for complete details on the matches and rewards.
Xian Du
Find the first feline in the northwest corner on your way to the Coliseum. Take a slight detour near the elevator and look for Flakey playing with a dark-colored dog that resembles an Akita.
In the opposite corner to the southeast, go up to the second floor and enter a residence. Look near the window to find Harry the cat.
The final cat is at the far end of the Coliseum - Hall of Heroes. Collect the few items in this area and make sure to find the feline before getting carried away with the rush of the Coliseum. The all white cat Kyo (and its Item Quest collar) is on a landing looking down on the bustle of the arena.

Prioritize Killing the Harpies
The Harpy is the most dangerous of the foes who appear here. If you ignore one, it could use the Call Friends arte to summon companions that will prolong the battle. Worse still, it uses a breath attack that is unblockable. If you’re fighting some other foe, the breath attack could interfere with your attacks and leave you open to counters. Blast Harpies with gunfire (their weakness) as soon as the battle begins.
Prism Beaks have no weaknesses, making it difficult to damage them, and they use spinning attacks that hurt multiple party members at once. This could be a problem for party members like Elize or Rowen who are weak at physical defense, so heal frequently and don’t rely on auto-items to keep them safe. If you’re hit by the light-type arte of Filihelia, you’ll be Confused. A Confused character is more dangerous than any foe, so immediately use a Panacea Bottle.
If you need some items, stop by the Peddler in the North Region and swing by to pick up Wasabi the cat hiding behind some large rocks.

Labari Hollow
It’s Hammer Time
Save for the Mine Plant, all of the foes who appear in Labari Hollow share a weakness to strike damage. For that reason, you should fight primarily with your sledgehammer, shifting to your dual blades only when Mine Plants appear. Mine Plants have a variety of resistances, so when using artes, use pure slashing-damage-type artes like Swift Strike and Time Disintegration exclusively. Incidentally, you’ll do quite a bit of damage with standard dual blade attacks, so using jumping attacks to target the creature’s head (its weak point) is the quickest way to defeat it. Keep and eye out for Air Pressure, one of the two artes used by Mine Plants, that can petrify you—protect yourself with Magic Guard. When battling the Golems, whose weak point is in their backs, link with a comrade and set you and your partner to Act Together to attack the Golems’ backs easily. Golems block frequently, so it’s best to have Alvin be your partner so he can break their guard with Breaker.
This area is made of several narrow ring-like passages as you make your way to the bottom. There is not a lot of room to run, but you will want to fight anyway, as enemies in this area frequently drop Silver Ore and Geodes that are used in Custom Orders. That makes this a great place to gather materials while leveling up.
Mao and its Item Quest collar can be found in Sector 6, but it is easy to overlook the black cat on a barrel. Luckily there is a small lantern to shed some light in the dark corner it is hiding in.
At the very bottom of this Hollow, Setsuna is hiding in a crate that is very easy to overlook.

Strengthen Your Water Resistance
Many of the attacks you’ll face from Mon Highland enemies, such as the Snowmelt Merfish’s fin attack and the Snow Dragon’s breath, are water-type attacks. The Snow Dragon’s breath attack is especially powerful. When you see a Dragon raise its head, side-step to dodge. Use accessories like Aqua Capes and Aquamarine to boost your resistance to water-type attacks, reducing the amount of damage you take as you battle these foes. On offense, you can use fire-type weapons like Zeus Crusher (Fire) and artes like Crimson Fury to dish out big damage.
In the Central Region, look for a cave to the east where Zexyz is curled up trying to stay warm.
The snow-covered land is beautiful to behold, but when you enter the Silent Cave to get in from the cold it is very narrow and dark. There is a small hole near the northern section that is easy to miss, but it is essential to crawl through that tunnel to venture deeper into the cave. High up on a ledge, Holmes and its Item Quest collar are waiting for you before you return outside to a private snowy retreat in the North Branch.

Unlock Custom Water-Type Weapons and Allium Orbs
Once you visit the shops in Kanbalar, you’ll be able to Custom Order the water-type Allium Orb, Glacier Plus, as well as water-type weapons like Prometheus (Water) and Deluge Fist. Many foes in the Kanbalar Region are resistant to water, but it’s a weakness for most of the foes in the upcoming Nala Lava Tubes. Create some of these weapons and hold on to them when you get into the fiery region. Also note that you can get Gaius dumplings by making Kanbalar the target of your Kitty Dispatches. These are hard materials to get your hands on (until after Chapter 13), so you’ll want to send your cats here often.
Locate Claire inside a house in the southwest corner of Residential Ward Plaza.
Corgan is at the Castle Gaius Gates trying to make friends with a caged Snow Dragon.
The final cat can be only be found if you go to the upper level of Residential Ward Plaza by using the Xailen Woods Temple exit. Work your way across the rooftops of the plaza, but before you enter the upper tier of the Castle Gaius Gates, check behind a snowy bank to find Breezy and its Item Quest collar.

Nala Lava Tubes
Water Is the Way to Go
Craft a Prometheus (Water) weapon if you can and it will help out a lot in the area. The Nala Lava Tubes differ from the surrounding areas in that most of its foes are weak to water, so fighting with the Prometheus (Water) dual blades will make things a lot easier. However the Gentlefreet has no weakness to water, so you’ll want to change to the sledgehammer to battle them. Your foes will make heavy use of artes like Somebody Stop Me! and Yikes! Spicy!, so it’s a good idea to equip fire-resistance-boosting accessories to mitigate the damage.
The paths in this volcanic area are narrow, and it can be tough to avoid enemies, so expect to a lot of combat in this region. Also, when fighting the numerous Fire Golems you’ll run into, avoid a frontal assault and circle around to their back where they are weak!

Tame the Tundra with Fire
Your foes in the Sillea Tundra all possess resistance to water, so any water attacks will likely provoke counterattacks. Make sure you aren’t using weapons like Jude’s Deluge Fist and have characters refrain from using water-type artes like Splash. Attack your foes with fire-type weapons, and link with Leia so you can use the effective fire-type Linked Arte Phoenix Javelin.
The Ice Harpy has no weakness to fire, and can summon comrades with the Call Friends arte. Also, it can attack you with artes even from afar! If it appears, switch to your dual pistols so you can hit it with gun-type damage, and make killing it your top priority.

Kukhar Ice Caverns
Beware the Frost Skeletons
As with its neighboring regions, fire-type weapons are effective in the Kukhar Ice Caverns. If you are careless, you could end up being stuck with the Skillseal ailment if you get hit by the Frost Skeleton’s lunge attack or Cursebind Skull. Skillseal would mean that not only could you no longer use Magic Guard, but skills like Strength and Water Guard would become inactive, seriously hampering your combat ability. To protect yourself, buy lots of Panacea Bottles and set them to be used as Auto-Items. Equipping water-resistance boosters like the Aquamarine accessory can also help. Most of the other foes shouldn’t be a problem, but when battling Gentlemundine, use artes like Crimson Fury to strike the weak point in its head.

Use Fire or Wind to Blow ’em Away
In the Tulea Tundra, you’ll face basically the same foes you fought in the Sillea Tundra, so fire-type attacks remain effective. One enemy you’ll only face in the Tulea Tundra is the Crystal Beak, which is weak to fire and wind attacks and is immune to all other damage types. If you don’t have fire weapons on hand, you’ll want to make sure you’ve set shortcuts for artes like Hammer Toss and Azure Edge to defeat the Crystal Beaks. Also, use quick-steps to dodge the Crystal Beak’s Hip Press attack. If the Penguinist gives you any trouble, simply block their breath assault and counterattack.
Check for Dasher in the South Region sitting patiently near a snow-covered boulder.

Fezebel Marsh
Northern Region Only
Enemies with a variety of damage-type resistances appear in the Fezebel Marsh. Between them, they’re capable of absorbing four different damage types, so you’ll want to avoid using wide-area spells of the fire, water, wind, and earth types. Your foes will also attack you with a wide mix of elemental damage types, so it’s difficult to prepare a defense that would be effective against all of them. Your best bet is to link with Rowen to protect yourself with his Auto Magic Guard ability. Also, the Armored Boar will actively pursue you with its rolling attack, so you’ll want to guard against it.
You can’t enter Arklund Quag during Interval 8-9, so you’ll only be able to explore the Northeast and Northwest Regions of this area. There is a treasure chest in the Northeast Region, and since there are random items in both areas, it’s worth checking them out.
